It's been quite apparent for some time now that it's pretty hard to get hold of the original games, Red, Blue and Yellow, even Gold, Silver and Crystal. I noticed that sometimes a lot of classic Nintendo games get release on their eShop. I'm thinking it's about time they could release Red, Blue and Yellow on to there, even for some kind of Pokémon anniversary.

I think this would be a really cool idea. Sadly Game Freak said they were against doing this but I hope they change their minds.

Ya that would be really cool if the old Pokémon games were on eShop.

I think it's a great idea. It'd be good to have them on the eShop, then they wouldn't have to remake as many.

I don't understand why Game Freak would be against this, not at all. They have to be aware that their old games are being emulated on phones and the like now anyway, why not release these old titles for a couple of bucks and maybe make something off their old intellectual property? I think it's a great idea.

I agree with Doima. If you put it up, you have a much better chance of someone actually buying your game, and not just emulating it. At least you MIGHT make some income, and I imagine it's not too difficult to port games.

Releasing them in the eShop sounds like a good idea to me. I agree with Doima and Cobalt. There's no real reason why GameFreak should be against releasing them in the eShop.

Well if they put them on the eshop, at least people would pay something for them because people is just downloading the free rom...
In the other hand, those games are large histories and maps, so maybe they think the eshop is more for short games like mario or bomberman...

That's quite true, though on the other hand people might not buy them because they can pay on a rom. I would buy, because I like playing games on a console more than an emulator but still, that might lose them some sales. They'd still gain more than they lost though.

That's exactly my point, too. It's not like you'll lose too much porting the games, I can imagine it's just like making a ROM, except it's official. And if normal, ordinary people can make ROMS free and rather easily, I'm 100% sure Nintendo can too. They've ported games like Metroid and I think Legend of Zelda, and I would download them both if I had my own money to spend.

It basically is a ROM itself. There's no question they are physically able to get the games on there, the e-shop has even old Sega Gamegear games on it. They are just choosing not to, and I really can't figure out why.

I'd buy it! I played all games on an emulator myself, but I still want to play them on an actual console! Maybe GameFreak isn't directly against it, but it's just not their priority, and they want to focus on new games first. Or something :P
