Cloud floats into battle

Technically it's "Cloud Storms into Battle", but whatever. The limit feature(final smash?) thing looks really cool and I like the design and all but... I don't think anyone was really expecting this. I actually don't think it came from the Smash Ballot, it didn't seem like he was top or anything, it was announced on Direct. Correct me if I'm wrong. I would like to see Sora(KH) in Smash but... maybe that's just me.

 

What gets me is that Cloud has never appeared on a Nintendo system before. Not FF7 or any of its many, many, many, many spinoff titles were on Nintendo (as far as I remember.) The only time I can remember Squaresoft working with Nintendo at all was Super Mario RPG, and that deal fell apart or else we'd be seeing a lot more Geno in the Marioverse.

Honestly, I'm more excited for the stage. I'm pretty sure all those espers were stage hazards of the Midgard-like level, based on how interactive they were with the arena itself, and that could make for one exciting place to battle.

 

Just to be clear, Cloud is NOT is Smash because of the Smash Ballot. There's no doubt about that. That ballot wrapped up a few weeks ago and Cloud is definitely a finished character. It takes them like half a year to get a character done sooo.

But otherwise, I'm really hyped from Cloud. It's awesome having Final Fantasy in Smash Bros., even if it's super bizarre. I sense FF7 coming to virtual console or the remake coming to NX in our future.

 

I agree with @[member='Zero Sifr'], The stage looks amazing. All of the elements are bound to be super gimmicky but they're gonna be AWESOME

 

I might be bumping this thread a bit.

Cloud might not have been on any Nintendo systems, but that's not what matters. There's no better known representative of the Final Fantasy series, that's why he got picked.

Anyways, I'm pretty hyped. Hello, new main!
