    Growing up, a lot of us had an irrational fear of clowns, even if they were the non-killer clowns that represent both funniness and cheerfulness. If you were one to fear clowns, why did you? Are you still afraid of them to this day? How about those killer clowns? Maybe you're particularly afraid of just those? Or are you like me and you're actually fond of clowns? I've always liked clowns growing up, and as I got older, took an even greater liking to the killer (or scary) looking clowns.

    Discuss everything related to clowns below!

    Clowns are freaky and need to die in fire... I STILL don't like them to this day. They smell weird and they're creepy. Ugh... Stop being so damn happy and using those voices!

    Clowns are the spookiest and the most horrifying things ever in my opinion. Crying kids? Yeah that's fine, but if you come at me with a clown i'm getting out of there as fast as possible. I don't exactly know why I don't like them, maybe they're just naturally inserted into my mind as a threat. Or my aunt (watched chuckie when she was 3) prorammed it into my mind

    Clowns... I've never really liked them at all; as a kid, I would probably rather have wandered onto a stage full of those spooky Chuck E. Cheese animatronics than tried to approach any clowns I'd seen at circuses or fairs. They're in a similar boat with bees and spiders in the sense that I don't like them in real life, but have no problem at all with things based on them in fiction (i.e. Clown Man in Mega Man 8, though he looks more like a cute, colorful jester than a clown). In fact, clownish designs or personalities/skills are among some of my favorites to work with when they're done just right, because they tend to be... unusual/unique, I suppose?

    Clowns are scary! I have never liked them at all, they always gave me an uneasy feeling about them, though I'm sure it really hit me when I first saw the McDonald's clown. He always scared me when I was younger. I still do have a fear of them, both the normal ones and killer ones in movies and such ^^;

    I'm pretty sure as a kid I hated clowns, haha. Even now they still scare me a little bit, but the real fear of them isn't there anymore.

    Clowns terrify me more than anything. They're just so creepy with plastered smiles and that ominous laugh. They honestly give me shivers.

    After I seen the movie, and read the book "IT" I can honestly say that I am horrified of clowns. I mean, I have no problem with them, since I know they're suppose to be there for comic relief and such, but as I cannot get over the fact that they do creep me out, Twisty the Clown from American Horror Story was pretty badass, even though he killed lots of people.

    Clowns absolutely terrify me. You can tell me that's a person under there but I will still be afraid of one trying to sneak into my room and trying to kill me or something.

    Honestly if it wasn't for stories like It, I'm not sure if as many people would be as scared of clowns. But I'm not really afraid of them, they just make me on edge and if they get too close you can bet I'd lash out.

    Fear of clowns started from a nightmare that I had in grade 5 because I watched Hellraiser 2
    I don't really fear them now, I've grown out of it, but I don't see how they're seen as funny at all they are creepy.

    The only times that clowns have ever scared me was that one time in like.. 5th grade where my friend had a sleep over, and five or six of us all had our sleeping bags in her living room watching the movie 'It' together, about that killer clown. Would not have been so bad, but her grandmother collected clowns, and she loved them. There clown figurines, and statues and pictures all over that entire room. Some of the dolls were even around us on the floor. we like "HAHAH NOPE", and it was hard for us to sleep that night.

    I'm not afraid of clowns myself, but I think this is probably what it's like.

    Need I say more?

    Also, after watching that I am now officially terrified of Ronald McDonald.

    "Everyone was laughing at Jean-Gaspard Deburau's Pierrot, a clown character with a white face, black eyebrows and red lips – one of the first professional silent mimes. He was universally beloved in France, but in 1836 Deburau killed a boy with a blow from his cane after the boy taunted him. Though he was ultimately acquitted, the image of a killer clown stuck in the public conscious."

    ^ is this not the reason why we're scared
    don't taunt the clowns, you might end up dead

    ...oh, not to mention all those clown horror movies.

    I actually don't have a fear of clowns? Well, was hardly ever exposed to them to begin with lol. But I'm sure I'll be cowering underneath my sheets for weeks if anyone were to dare show me a scary movie with clowns in them. ;_;

    Clowns just seem odd to me. Who thought these things up? Why? It's not funny to me, but it isn't scary or creepy. It's just... odd. That's all I can really say to describe them.

    I've never had a fear of clowns, even since young. They've always been more or less neutral to me. To me, they're just face-painted men with red noses, huge shoes and outlandish clothes that perform tricks and make balloon animals for kids at parties. The twisted scarier-looking ones do unnerve me quite a bit, though.

    I don't like clowns, but that doesn't make me scared of them. I find them useless, especially in the entertainment industry. But hey, they can't just disappear.

    Killer clowns freak me out. Even normal clowns, freak me out a touch. Mostly because of their exaggerated make-up and outfits.
