Group RP Cobalt Crew Chronicles: Caverns of Cold Steel

As the Zoroark emitted an attack, Ciara’s vision was shrouded in darkness. Luckily, due to her Keen Eye ability, she was able to make out her surroundings.

“Huh. I guess the inevitable has arrived. I knew you meant trouble the second I saw you. I never wanted it to end like this, but what can I do about it?” The corvid’s voice shifted from apathetic and monotone to something much more malicious and intimidating, proving that she is, in fact capable of more than one expression.

Ciara flew upwards, out of the canine trickster’s reach.

 

Between the sounds of Angharad's forge and Bluegrass's singing/playing, Demyx was finding it easier to relax and study out his map. It got noticeably darker in just a few seconds, and curiously looked up. He quickly shot up as soon as he saw that where the Corvisquire and Zoroark were, the area was covered in pitch black darkness. That Zoroark had to be involved somehow.

He wanted to Jet up there to stop whatever is happening, but despite really wanting to intervene, there's not a chance he'll be able to see what's happening. He quickly looked around to see what he could find, and turned to Angharad. "Hey... uh... ma'am!" He clumsily started, not wanting to You see that up there, right?" He started, pointing at the darkness in the sky. "That's not normal at all. Do you have any sort of strong light source I can use?

...Preferably waterproof?"

 

(I rolled a d20 to determine how well Ciara dodges the attack, and got an 11)

As the triple Zoroarks fire their blasts, Ciara managed to dodge 2 of their attacks, but was hit by the third. Despite this, the Corvisquire continued to pull a straight face, trying her best to endure the pain.

Ciara had to strike back, but with there being three Zoroarks, it was hard to tell which one was real. She had to somehow make him drop the illusion. While eyeing her opponent(s), the corvid noticed the immense frustration on his (or rather, their). An idea suddenly sparked in Ciara’s head.

The dark-feathered bird chuckled at her canine opponent.

“Even with your pathetic illusions, you still barely landed a scratch on a weak little bird like me. Your little tricks are the only things keeping you standing. Say, why don’t you drop those illusions and fight me on your own, spare yourself from the embarrassment.” Ciara taunted in a deadpan, yet almost playful voice.

The corvid gave a menacing grin, with her eyes flaring bright red. She then continued “Oh, that’s right, you’re too much of a coward to fight fair!”

 

Angharad looked up, and scowled. "Can't we have one calm day? ONE CALM DAY?" She cursed. "Right then, Demyx. I have several lanterns ya can use. I have to make them watertight, seeing how sometimes the miners find underground rivers and such." She said, turning to the chest off to the side of her makeshift forge. She opened it, and in it was various mining tools, like picks and lamps. She pulled one out, and made sure that it was full. "This oughta do you good. That Zoroark don't know Galarians from ya Uvoians. We a different folk, ya see. We had something called the Darkest Day, and Da said that his Granddad lived during the Darkest Day. He had to make the Royal Family these watertight lanterns for them with his Da, so me Da taught me." She gave the Lantern to Demyx. "Now go stop their fighting, Defender." She gave him a smile.

 

Upon realising her plan worked, Ciara grinned once again. Her canine foe used flamethrower, a rather odd choice of a move for someone his species, but practical given the current weather. Someone must’ve noticed this by now. She didn’t want to deal with him for any longer.

Now with a target on sight, Ciara was able to land a clear attack on her target. She quickly swooped behind her opponent and readied a Drill Peck.

"Not another of these skirmishes," Bluegrass sighed, pulling back some of his vines as he used the others to hook on a wall, scaling up the mine towards the Corvisquire and Zoroark, who seemed to have been taunted as the illusion Pokémon abandoned its namesake and signature move in favour of attack, to which the corvid countered easily. Noting the Dewott also preparing to head up the Ivysaur continued to climb quickly.

 

Demyx accepted the lantern from Angharad. "Thank you. I'll u-" He was interrupted by the flamethrower that suddenly erupted from the darkness, looking like it was aimed at the Corvisquire. Guess they weren't really friends after all. "...I'll use it well." He stated, as he held tight onto the lantern and made a running start before he began to jet into the darkness, as to not accidently soak anyone behind him.

As he went in, the light from the lantern revealed that the Zoroark seemed to be down already. Whoever the Corvisquire was seemed to be in a decent fighter at least. The Zoroark looked like he was trying to do something, however, so he goes to land on top of him to pin him down. "All right, this ends right now!"

 

“You’re kidding.” Ciara said sarcastically as she reverted back to her serious, unimpressed expression. She flew down to face the Dewott and Heatmor.

“Look, I don’t want to have to deal with this anymore, so here’s what actually happened.” She began. “I was surveying this area as sent by authorities to do so, and this Zoroark decided to come up to me and tell me to leave. When I said no, he tried to attack me, so I had no choice but to retaliate. This Dewott only arrived to break the fight.”

 

Upon hearing the Zoroark's clearly false accusations, Demyx slightly chuckled. "That is an interesting claim." He started before he had a more serious expression on his face. "But my father raised me better than that. I've been in the same area as the Charmeleon and Bluegrass this entire time up until now. They can vouch for me if need be." He finished, keeping the Zoroark pinned down.

Demyx nodded in agreement. "I saw you two up here, but it didn't seem like much was going on until... well, this fight started." Keeping the weakened Puck pinned down with his body and one of his paws, he used his other hand to reach into his bag and pull out a silver badge with a design akin the official Unovan Defense Force banner, and showed it to Hartman, Puck, and Ciara "See, I'm here in the first place because of reports of strange monsters in these mines." He looked back down at Puck, still unhappy about this situation. "I'm sure it's been tough for everyone as is, but the last thing needed in a situation like this is this kind of manipulation and fighting amongst each other." He put more emphasis into fighting than the rest and he placed his other hand back down on the Zoroark to keep him pinned.

 

Angharad glowered at Puck. "Let me tell you this, Puck. You do NOT assume that they are going to steal your 'precious' Talisman. She's a Corvisquire, from my home region of Galar. Her species are hailed in my region as knights. Hell, I know one of her kind's evolution, Corviknight. I helped me da forge a new sword for him! The Corviknight line is sacred to us Galarians, you imbecile!" She lifted her hammer into his face. "And, you do NOT fight any help we can get. That means you do not assume that they are hostile, Puck. There's a reason I refuse to make you anything." She then gave him a glare, using her Scary Face. "Don't you ever threaten any more Frosthunters AGAIN!"

 

"Cafodd y Talisman ei felltithio â rhew! Ewch yn ôl!" Angharad cursed in Welsh, grabbing Demyx and pulling him off the seizing Zoroark.

The Talisman was cursed with frost! Get back!

"Arceus dammit! We have to deal with him right now or we're going to lose the mine!" She said in English, and she took a deep breath, and let loose a Flamethrower on the Zoroark as it became covered with frost. The flames hit the frost and caused mist to shroud the Zoroark. "Ya really should of known better than speak of Lacunosa around me, Puck. Did you forget? My Da was there. He was trying to help with the defense of Lacunosa when Kyurem killed him! My Da, Arthur Hayden!" Remembering her father, an Aggron who taught her everything he knew about forging.

 

Quickly several vines wrapped around the stone, courtesy of Bluegrass who had just arrived when the Zoroark had gone acuckoo. Gritting his teeth, the Ivysaur tried to hold his ground, but the force was becoming too strong for him. "Milords, miladies, I may need some help here," he exclaimed, straining as he tried to stop the stone as quick as he could.

 

Demyx had held his grip for a bit, though being reminded of the Lacunosa incident and him not being there really hurt him. He held the Zoroark as tight as he could as he was struggling more, but was losing control up until he was pulled back by Angharad and moved away from the Zoroark. Moments later he saw the same Beartic that he spoke with before come up and basically handle the situation... right up until the stone shot out of his hands and down the lower levels of the mines.

He saw Bluegrass react quickly and grabbed the vines. "Milords, miladies, I may need some help here," the Ivysaur exclaimed, as he quickly began to struggle with the stone.

"Hang in there!" Demyx yelled as he slid back down the mountain as quickly has he could, and grabbed one of Bluegrass' vines and trying to pull back. The sheer cold eminating from the stone was much more intense than he had anticipated, though. He's not even touching it and can feel the freezing energy coming off of it.

"Wait...." he said to himself, realizing the Ivysaur's inherit weakness to ice. "Wait, let go!" He yelled. "You're gonna freeze over at this rate...!"

 

As more Pokémon arrived, Ciara knew the trouble the Zoroark caused was more serious than she originally thought. The talisman began to freeze the fox, as a Beartic came to stop it. As the Boreas grabbed it, the stone glowed blue as the bear grunted in pain. Ciara watched as the icy stone shot out of his hands down the mountain, headed towards the forbidden Cavern 17.

The raven saw the Ivysaur and Dewott attempt to grab the talisman, only to be stopped by the latter.

“What is that talisman supposed to do? And why did it react that way?” Ciara asked the Beartic, still looking at the tumbling stone.
