Collector vs. Player

When I was younger, I used to collect the cards and play the card games. It was pretty fun. I used to go against my sister, cousin, and this kid down the street from me. My deck wasn't that super, but I did fair pretty well against them all! However, I was only able to use the cards that I had doubles of. So no holograms or anything awesome like that. But being that I had so many to choose from, it wasn't that much of an issue.

But when they introduced generation 2, I stopped collecting the cards and just went for the video games. Mainly because the area around me had bumped the prices up too high. It also put an end to my card gaming too.

Though now, I recently started purchasing the cards again. This is mainly because I just want to see if I can get the Pokémon I like. So I guess I'm just a collector now. I'd rather buy the packs of cards than buy them from some website. It seems more fun, having the "surprise" factor of opening a new pack xD Besides! If you're a true collector, opening a new pack just shows that the card you get are actually real and new rather than possibly being a fake and damaged.

 

I used to collect and only collect, same with Magic: The Gathering. I stopped being involved in collecting after the Gym Heroes set, so I missed most of all the cards that came out since they've been out, but Base Set to Gym Heroes I had everything. I lost them all in a move, though, which is kind of sad. Part of me is interested in getting my hands on some again, but I'd only really be interested in getting the cards of a few of my favorites.

 

I used to play, but, for me, its hard to find people to play, though I do hop on PTCGO sometimes.

 

When I was a lot younger I would play the game all the time. Now every once in a great while, I'll play online. However, I still do collect the cards all the time. I buy booster packs every once in a while, and when there's a card that I want in particular I'll order it online.

 

Honestly, I've never had any Pokémon card, but I think I might want to get a few packs when the X&Y cards happen. Still, I know absolutely nothing about the game behind it, so just collecting

I already have a considerable money sink in Magic:The Gathering, so I don't buy booster pack after booster pack looking for cards. I generally buy a box of each new set, a few boosters and just trade around spares for cards I don't have.

Besides, I'm too lazy to learn how to play yet another card game.

 

I'm mostly a Magic: the Gathering player, so I imagine if I dove into Pokémon I would be a player as well.

There's a tragic story of when I was young I started to steal the Pokémon cards in summer camp. I just went after the holographics. Of course I got caught in the end. Never stole from anyone again.

 

I'm a collector as well. Just like Degnne I want to have one card of each Pokémon (three actually) and put them in a collection (twice, one for the National Dex order and one in Alphabetical order, and one in my 'favorite Pokémon order').

I also like to collect the cards since some of them have great artwork on them.

As for playing, I don't much other than myself. I only have a basic knowledge, so in tournament I'd probably loose really fast. By the time those tournaments come around - I'm out of cash, I already spent all my money on anything Pokémon related (clothing, plushes, games, tcg boxes-boosters-or tins)

 

I'm mostly just a collector . I like to buy booster packs and trade with other people to see which cards i get ! ( Even My luck is ok when it comes to booster packs... :/ )
