You know how Red was the true final boss of the Johto games, and he had a team consisting of Pokémon given to you in Yellow? Basically, come up with that kind of team for other Pokémon characters if they were to appear as a 'final boss trainer' in a future game.

Reasons: The starters are self-explanatory- However, Torterra is the highest levelled out of the starters since it's the starter of Diamond in Pokémon Adventures. (Honestly, I don't have any reasons for the others to be stronger, sooo...) You get given Porygon and Eevee during Platinum, and Cynthia gives you a Togepi egg
in Platinum as well. I figured a Pokémon raised from the egg should be higher levelled than two random 'Mons you get given by some stranger, too. The reason for the Choice Scarf and Specs isn't just competitive merit, either- They were both introduced in Gen IV, so I felt they were good fits on the team.
So, come up with your own for other characters!

The Azumarill is obvious -- she always has a Marill with her in the game. The Raticate is the Ratatta she caught in the "How to catch Pokémon Tutorial" at the beginning of the game. Hypno is because Drowzee can be found near the Day-Care, where her grandparents live, and the Clefable and Wigglytuff are because they're evolved forms of Cleffa and Igglybuff, two baby Pokémon designed as a gimmick for breeding, linking back to the Day-Care couple being her grandparents. She also has the fully evolved form of the Pokémon you or your rival did not take. I also tried to include moves Pokémon can only get through breeding, further linking to the Day-Care Couple thing.
