Pros and cons! Not, I'm kidding, not those cons. Cons, as in conventions. Do you attend them, and if so, how often? What do you plan on attending this year or in the future? Next month, I'll be going to KCon, and in October I'm attending NYCC. These will both be my first cons. I don't plan on cosplaying for NYCC because, well, I don't cosplay, but I'm excited for them regardless!
I'll actually be attending my first con in Canada next week. It's for Warframe, if you've ever heard of it. I was originally supposed to be bringing a friend along, but he waited just a bit too long to get his passport. It's a bummer, but things happen, so it's no biggie. I'd also like to attend Guardian Con at some point, but for now, that's not something I'll be doing anytime soon. I hope you have fun both next month and this upcoming October!
I’ve never been to a con before and I would so love to go to one! I haven’t really been one to cosplay often, but I really want to get into cosplaying. But I have no idea who I would cosplay as...
I used to go to anime/geek culture cons, but tbqh, I'm not so fond of crowds anymore, haha. I think the closest thing to fan cons that I attend these days are industry expos, which (despite being for the book industry) don't really count because I'm there for work. *shrug* Oh, and events for Ingress, but that also doesn't really count because it's just playing the game (and then partying, haha).
It would be fun to go one day, but I have never gone. If I ever went, I don't think I would dress up in any costume or anything. I would just go and enjoy discussing things I love.
I once went to the American Astronomical Society convention, but that was more for work then for fun. I haven't gone to a convention for fun before. I would like to go out to conventions to find cool merchandise and meet amazing people of the community, but money and lack of knowledge of conventions is the main reason I don't ever go to them.
I've only gone to one convention, and it was a fairly small one, but I definitely think that I would like to go to a larger one. It feels great to just get out and be around so many people who are so passionate about things that are similar to things that I'm passionate about. Doing cosplay is fun too, but I especially love to see some of the more elaborate cosplays that other people come up with. I saw this one group cosplay where a family of four (mom, dad, son, daughter) were dressed up as Shakspearean pokémon (Human versions of Pokémon, except they were dressed up in Shakspearean style clothes). There was a Hypno, Bulbasaur, Umbreon, and...something else that I can't remember, which is disappointing. The costumes were fantastic though.
So far I have been to three cons, and two of them were the same yearly convention. There was a time when I couldn't find the entrance to one of them, but there were so many cosplayers around that I could have gotten all the photos that I wanted, without paying. I did end up finding the ticket booth, and browsed the shops while finding what people would allow a photo of them to add to my collection. I also ask for autographs from anyone that I do take a photo with, (If I remember) but normally most people say no. It's okay ya'll, I don't want your real name- just the character's name. I ended up getting the panda head that I'm wearing in my profile picture, from my second convention. I had on a mask that I had made myself, and wasn't too satisfied with. And now that I have a black Renaissance dress, I will be pairing that with my Panda head, and my Fox head! Two-for-one snipe!
Crowds make me extremely nervous, but there are some I’d love to go to. Namely the Portland Retro Gaming Expo and Crunchyroll Expo. Getting to Portland is no problem, but San Jose is hundreds of miles away. Maybe one of these days.
id love to go to a con one day!! I wanna start with my states anime convention (anime iowa) next year as I wanna try and table at the artist's alley in 2020. ive never cosplayed before but I really wanna try getting into cosplay as well, mostly my best boys from my dumb mobile games
I always tell myself I'll go to a convention one of these days, but they never fit my schedule, and I suck at cosplaying
