Well I don’t know if you guys would like this but maybe we could make the Sound type. Pokémon with sound based abilities and Pokémon who already have preexisting with sound based abilities like Whismur, Loundred, and Exploud would become both Normal and Sound type Pokémon. I still don’t have all the details thought through but maybe you’ll like the idea.

How about we call it Vocal type?

And have rock and/or ground type be ammune/resistant to it because they block out sounds.

And Vocal types move sets generally have a lot of sound based moves

Super effective against psychic type because they need to concentrate

Yeah and maybe some moves would be converted into Vocal type moves like Hyper Voice or simple moves like Growl.

    Yeah!
I can make a fakemon of that type, just to spice it up a bit. What do you think?

Yeah that sounds cool I personally think that I should make a sketch of an Eeveeloution of it as well however it will take some planning to think of a design.

You can make it like a DJ or have boomboxes in it or something like that. I'm thinking of going for bongos as inspiration.

I’m thinking more of chime bells and calling it Chimereon. However it also would have a bit of dark side that I’ll explain more when I think of the full design unlike most people I prefer sketching over digital art. However I am perplexed at what color I should do for it what color do you guys think it should be?

Oh and I think another Pokémon that Vocal type moves would be super effective against would be Water types. As for a Pokémon who’s moves are super effective against Vocal types maybe Steel and Ice. I’ll explain more about my reasons later.

I prefer traditional too! Sounds like a good idea. Maybe a nice Purple and black like this wind chime? Or maybe it can change from lavender to that, to go along with the dark side. Or maybe just Lavender

Since it seems that we are going to use Sound as our new type what would its Z-Move be? I was thinking of calling it Sonic Soundwave.

I'd say also make it super effective against Steel types, since metal conducts sound extremely well.

You know, that's funny, earlier when I was thinking of different types, one of the first ones I thought of was a sound type. Haha y'all are mind readers.
Although, I think it would be better to call it a "Sonic type"
The definition of sonic is: "denoting, relating to, or of the nature of sound or sound waves."

    Ok here's my idea
    Type Name: Material

Material-Type Pokémon are all about supporting the team, and have high Defense and Special Defense stats. Their moveset would consist of mostly debuffing moves on the opposing Team, and on moves like Safeguard to help their team out. Their attacks would have flinching as a side effect, as well as some moves causing Paralysis (one move I'm thinking of would be 'Static Strike'.) They have limited movepools outside of their typing and can only really use 'practical attacks' (think Bite and Crunch versus Fire or Ice Fang.) The downside to Material-Type moves is that very few non-Material Type Pokémon can learn them, and the attacks generally are not too powerful (I'm thinking around the 60-65 range for Power)

Some Abilities which could be given to the Material Types are
    • Sacrifice: saves an ally from a Super-Effective move (only in Multi-Battles)
    • Programming: ignores Stat-Changes
    • Clogged: ignores HP Draining moves
    • Unstoppable: cannot be affected by Poison or Sleep

The Material-Type was the result of the ancient people who created Golurk (see I have an idea) and were created using a powerful energy source. They would be colored and designed as if they were built, meaning grey colors with blinking lights. Gears and sprockets would also be visible. They can become stereotypical 'RPG' like Pokémon (think a Knight Pokémon or a thief) and will be mostly humanoid.

A few Pokémon would change into the Material Type namely the Pokémon outright confirmed to be artificially made by humans which includes
    Voltorb & Electrode
    The Porygon family
    Baltoy family
    Castform
    Banette (would switch types)
Golett family (they would lose their Ghost-Typing)
    Genesect

While there are others, I do believe that they don't fit the theme of the Material-Type

    Resistances:

    • Normal
    • Flying
    • Psychic (They have no onboard mind which could be manipulated by Psychic attacks)
    • Fire (Built of a sturdy material)
    Weaknesses:

    • Electric (over-loading)
    • Ghost (possession)
    • Dark (the cliche of a gullible/naive automaton being used by the villian)
    • Water (Rust/unable to move as much in water)
    • Ice (Machine doesn't work in the cold)
    • Grass (Roots get in the gears)
    • Steel (stronger machine)

This was all something I was coming up with as I typed, if there's anything we can add I'd be happy to hear it.

If someone makes the mistake of relating the term to Sonic the Hedgehog then that's on them.
The word itself is supposed to mean that it's related to sound or sound waves.
By definition it fits perfectly and itself has no actual attachment to a specific character or franchise.

Sonic type sounds good! Now, let's stay organized with type effectiveness. I made this chart that I'll edit as we come up with more things.

    Sonic Type:

    Effective against:
    Psychic
    Steel
    Water

    Not effective against:
    Ground
    Flying

    Weak against:
    Steel
    Electric
    Flying

    Resistant to:

    Immune to:

    Immune to it:
    Rock

Should we switch rock and ground?

I think Ground should be the weakness instead of Rock.
It could also be super effective against Bug types since a most insects are sensitive to sound.

That's how it is already. And it's not very effective instead of weak because ground just nullifies the sound, making it not very effective to it

I think that Vocal/Sonic type should be super effective against ground types because earthquakes(when the ground breaks and shakes) are cause by vibrations (which are what sound is)
