Do you like to listen to sing covers? Are there any covers that are better then the original? Are there any covers that you absolutely dislike?

I have yet to find a cover of a song that I didn't enjoy. Most of the covers I've listened to are even better the original. My favorites being Sound of Silence by disturbed, Hurt by Johnny Cash, and This is Halloween by Marilyn Manson. The only cover I'd say I didn't absolutely enjoy would be Take on Me by NSP. How about you guys?

I can appreciate professional covers of songs for the most part! I enjoy Kelly Sweet's cover of "In The Air Tonight" by Phil Collins, I really like the sound of it. However, I can't say I'm fond of covers sang by random individuals over the net-- Like your typical Youtuber covers and such. I dunno, even if they sound good, I can't help but cringe a little. For some reason, it just makes me uncomfortable. I'm not sure if you're counting those types of covers, though!

I like to sing covers but I never perform. I don't think my voice is good enough, as fun as being in the music industry sounds. I usually love covers, I love to see what an artist can do with a song to make it their own. Honestly, though, I don't think I've ever been impressed with a cover of Chandelier, by Sia. She has such an incredible voice, it's really hard to do her music justice.

I just found this beauty on youtube yesterday, it's a fanmade extended edition of the Nohr version of Lost in Thoughts All Alone. Although I'm picky when it comes to music, I typically like almost every cover that I see, whether I'm interested in the song or not.

My favorite artist for covers, specifically acapella, has to be Peter Hollens. He's just a master at acapella, even forgoing instrumentation to create the background melodies using other tracks of his voice. I mean listen to these:

I don't think I've heard any of his covers that have disappointed me. His range is stunning, his voice is beautiful, and his collab partners are all talented as well, especially his wife Evynne.

I think the original is usually best. Usually. Sometimes a song deserves to be interpreted by new musicians in a new genre with new instruments. Two such examples are below:

Until It Sleeps - Originally by Metallica - Performed by Apocalyptica. What was once a sorta-rough rock ballad has been transformed into an emotional cello roller-coaster. Such deep swells and heart-tugging harmonies, you almost wouldn't think it was originally a heavy metal song about struggling to recover from drug addiction.

Holy Diver- Originally by Dio - Performed by Killswitch Engage. Holy Diver was once the most popular metal song around, and it was great. However, when Killswitch took it? Something magical happened, and I think it's more than just superior recording equipment. It's so much more alive, and the video is such an awesome parody of the original!

On the other hand, there is one cover song that I despise. Most famously by Julie London, "Cry Me a River" was covered by Michael Buble, and although I love most of what he does, he butchered the song. So badly that I won't even link to his version. Here's Julie's original, though.

Ordinary World-originally by Duran Duran, but RED have made a cover that is far better than the original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQeq_T_2VE8

    I like 2 covers:

Blank Space- originally by Taylor Swift but covered by I Prevail. The I Prevail version is a rock version of Blank Space, while Taylor Swifts version is pop. I LOVE the rock I Prevail cover of it much better than Taylor Swift poppy version

Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)- originally by Eurythmics but covered by Marilyn Manson. The Eurythmics version is kinda poppy and fast paced, but the Marilyn Manson version is more slow paced but its really rock. I like both versions but I like Marilyn Mansons cover better
