Creatémon Challenge: April 2022 What Is The Creatémon Challenge? The Creatémon (that's "Create-A-'Mon") Challenge is a monthly event where you, the wonderful members of Lake Valor, can work on creating your own Pokémon that fits within a certain theme that changes from month to month. Rules & Regulations Each entry must include a name, type and visual representation in order to account. Other details may be included but are not required. Any art style can be used for the visual part of the entry. All submissions must contain at least one Fakemon or alternate form created specifically for the event. Evolutions/pre-evolutions/alternate forms of official Pokémon will be accepted unless stated otherwise in the monthly them. Evolutions, etc. of pre-existing fakemon that you created may be included in an entry as long as you add at least one new form for the event, which must be specified in your post. Entries may be submitted as individuals or worked on in teams. If you want to work in a group, then one member will submit the entry here, with a list of everyone who worked on it and what they did. Submissions and winners may be shared on the official Lake Valor Twitter account (@lakevalorforums), but only with the artist's permission. These are your creations, which naturally means that you are free to use your Creatémon submissions for whatever you want outside of these challenges. All submissions must follow the rules of Lake Valor. No offensive or NSFW content. Absolutely no plagiarism. Any participant caught plagiarizing will be disqualified. This Month's Theme: Data and Glitches The early Pokémon games were notoriously buggy, which lead to a number of various "glitch Pokémon" that could appear when a glitch caused the game to try to load a Pokémon that did not exist. Since we started this month out with some site troubles due to a similar glitch in the code, I thought that it would be fitting for this month's theme to be to make a Pokémon based off of these old glitches. Though if you want, you could also make a Pokémon inspired by a glitch from another game or program, or even just a Pokémon based around programing, data or glitches like the Porygon evolution line. Prizes: 1st Place: 100 pp 2nd Place: 75 pp 3rd Place: 50 pp Consolation Prize: 10 pp All Entries Must Be Submitted by the end of the month. Any posts submitted or edited after that point in time will be disqualified. The voting thread will be opened shortly after that.
Alright, lets see if this qualifies! (EDIT: If you want to, you can totally post it on Twitter! my @ is AnarchyShadria) Some Pokegods from the day of old were portrayed as powerful Pokémon fusions, possibly inspired by glitchy Pokémon sprites that invoke visible bits of multiple Pokémon or a Pokémon getting another Pokémon's movepool via glitches. This one in particular has traits of Mew (a mythical Pokémon that was only available VIA GLITCHING or hacking unless you had access to scattered events in the days of Pokegods), Arcanine (a powerful fire-type that is still theorized as being a cut legendary Pokémon during the creation of Gen 1), and Meowth (cute and a anime mainstay thanks to Team Rocket). Contextual Backstory for my design! Back in middle school I loved looking through a (now defunct and archived website) called TRsRockin!, which held info on glitches (such as MissingNo., Bad EGG, and the Void Walking from D/P), fan art of glitches, and a section of fanfictions about glitches and anything else Pokémon. One that was quite popular went over a theory on how MissingNo. and 'M came to be. And it introduced a new Pokegod, a fusion of Mew, Entei, Meowth, and Persian named 'Myall'. Myall's design has stuck with me for years after that, even after I long forgot the site- memories of the design would come back to me for a time. For comparison between my design and the ancient Pokegod, Myall, I found one of the creator's artwork to show. The artist was named Mandy Nader. Most of her online presence from that time have been erased, to my knowledge, and I'm not one to pry into someone's modern day online activity. ^^'
Presenting: Spoiler Besod- Ability: Blue Screen - Pokémon has a 25% change of not being able to move, takes no damage if it doesn't move. Besod wander the forests. They have a unique battle tactic of locking both Pokémon into non-action occasionally. Veerus- ability: Seizure - 30% chance to make the opponent flich when attacks are successful. Veerus are corrupted evolutions of Besod, and they seek out other Pokémon to attack. Feechure- ability: Blue Lock - 30% chance to not move. Negate all incoming damage if this occurs. Feechure are rare evolutions, but take all the best parts of the Besod and make them better. They tend to be very friendly to other Pokémon. I'm sure it's probably sort of obvious, but my Pokémon is a literal bug, which can either become a feature, or a computer virus. Please feel free to post on the Twitter, @ Hiddenlore.
Spoiler: Gletch Gletch, the glitch Pokémon. Typing: Dark/Electric Pokédex entry. This Pokémon is constantly glitching and malfunctioning. Whenever it wanders too close to electronics or machinery it passes its glitches onto them.
