Creatémon Challenge: March 2021 What Is The Creatémon Challenge? The Creatémon (that's "Create-A-'Mon") Challenge is a monthly event where you, the wonderful members of Lake Valor, can work on creating your own Pokémon that fits within a certain theme that changes from month to month. Rules & Regulations Each entry must include a name, type and visual representation in order to account. Other details may be included but are not required. Any art style can be used for the visual part of the entry. All submissions must contain at least one Fakemon or alternate form created specifically for the event. Evolutions/pre-evolutions/alternate forms of official Pokémon will be accepted unless stated otherwise in the monthly them. Evolutions, etc. of pre-existing fakemon that you created may be included in an entry as long as you add at least one new form for the event, which must be specified in your post. Entries may be submitted as individuals or worked on in teams. If you want to work in a group, then one member will submit the entry here, with a list of everyone who worked on it and what they did. All submissions must follow the rules of Lake Valor. No offensive or NSFW content. Absolutely no plagiarism. Any participant caught plagiarizing will be disqualified. This Month's Theme: Serpents March is the month of St. Patrick's Day, a day celebrating the Irish culture and, more specifically, the slave-turned-priest who is often erroneously stated to have driven the snakes from the Emerald Isle (snakes, in this case, are actually a metaphor for pagans. There never were any literal snakes in Ireland). But that's boring, so let's bring them back. This month we're making new Pokémon based off of snakes and other serpents (such as sea serpents, serpent-like dragons, etc.). This a surprisingly category to work from, as many of the official serpentine Pokémon show, such as Ekans, Arbok, Onix, Gyarados, Dratini, Dragonair, Dunsparce, Steelix, Seviper, Milotic, Rayuaza, Serperior, Zygarde Silicobra and Sandaconda. So get out there and create a 'mon, then slither on back and share it here! If you think you know anyone who might be interested in taking part in these events, even if they're not on Lake Valor yet, feel free to let them know about us. The more, the merrier, as they say. Also, if you want to leave any feedback on these events or how you think they can be improved, please let me know. Participation has been kind of low recently, so let's try to change that. Prizes: 1st Place: 100 pp 2nd Place: 75 pp 3rd Place: 50 pp Consolation Prize: 10 pp All Entries Must Be Submitted By Sunday, March 28th at 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time. Any posts submitted or edited after that point in time will be disqualified. The voting thread will be opened shortly after that.
I figured since the theme was snakes, but the snakes in the story probably represent pagans, I would design Pokémon based off some pagan snakes. Best of both worlds. Spoiler: Fidias Fidias, the healing Pokémon. Typing: Poison/psychic Pokédex entry: This Pokémon will use its own venom to create medicines to heal others. It frequently gets mistaken for Cadafidi. Spoiler: Cadafidi Cadufidi, the traveling Pokémon. Typing: Poison/flying Pokédex entry: This Pokémon spends most of its time traveling and playing tricks on others. It likes to pretend to be a Fidias and fool those who are looking for a healer. Spoiler: Inspiration Fidias is based off of the rod of Asclepius (a stick with a single snake entwined around it. It's the symbol of Ascelpius, the ancient Greek god of medicine. Cadufidi was based off of the caduceus (a winged staff with two snakes entwined around it). It's the symbol of Hermes, god of travelers and thieves. I couldn't resist having Cadufidi frequently pretend to be Fidias, because frequently the caduceus is used to represent medicine, even though Hermes had nothing to do with medicine.
Almost missed it. Couldn’t come up with an idea that resonated. So I looked up serpents and saw dragopedes on Wikipedia, which are just snakes with human heads, so may I present the Snagon Line Spoiler: Snagon Snaglets are left to fend for themselves at birth. Their large head can cause them problems, and they must learn the unique fighting style on their own. Having mastered the art, Snagon roam the land looking for opponents.
