    Creatémon Challenge: March 2022

    What Is The Creatémon Challenge?

The Creatémon (that's "Create-A-'Mon") Challenge is a monthly event where you, the wonderful members of Lake Valor, can work on creating your own Pokémon that fits within a certain theme that changes from month to month.

    Rules & Regulations

    • Each entry must include a name, type and visual representation in order to account. Other details may be included but are not required.
    • Any art style can be used for the visual part of the entry.
    • All submissions must contain at least one Fakemon or alternate form created specifically for the event. Evolutions/pre-evolutions/alternate forms of official Pokémon will be accepted unless stated otherwise in the monthly them. Evolutions, etc. of pre-existing fakemon that you created may be included in an entry as long as you add at least one new form for the event, which must be specified in your post.
    • Entries may be submitted as individuals or worked on in teams. If you want to work in a group, then one member will submit the entry here, with a list of everyone who worked on it and what they did.
    • Submissions and winners may be shared on the official Lake Valor Twitter account (@lakevalorforums), but only with the artist's permission.
    • These are your creations, which naturally means that you are free to use your Creatémon submissions for whatever you want outside of these challenges.
    • All submissions must follow the rules of Lake Valor. No offensive or NSFW content.
    • Absolutely no plagiarism. Any participant caught plagiarizing will be disqualified.
    This Month's Theme: Lovecraft

Lovebird was supposed to have hosted a special Valentine's Creatémon last month but never posted the event, so I'm going to go ahead and reuse the theme they had been planning on. Here's the description they had written down:

"I was told that the theme of this month should be based off of the literary works of an author and a specific name stood out to me while I was reviewing who to choose: H.P. Lovecraft! I'm not familiar with his stories but with a name as lovely as Lovecraft, I knew that he would be perfect for this. So, your task is to, ahem, "Create-a-mon" inspired by the writings of H.P. Lovecraft!
And now I think I'll look through some of his stories to see how wonderful and love-crafted they are...
Oh, dear... oh no... that's not what I was expecting at all... I may have made a mistake."

Well, this should be an interested challenge. H.P. Lovecraft was a highly controversial (and unfortunately quite racist) author who is primarily known for his horror stories that revolved around the insignificance of humanity and the sheer unknowable of the universe around us. (he did write at least one parody romance story and a few fantasy adventures, though). These primarily involved eldritch and non-euclidean entities beyond our understanding and reasoning that should provide a deep well of inspiration for unconventional designs. So get out there and make something weird!

    Prizes:

Daguppy - Ability: Oblivious or Limber
Daguppy do not appear dangerous. They are solitary fish that seek places to rest.

Dageel - Ability: Oblivious or Limber
Dageel have begun the awkward process of developing arms and legs. This process makes them awkward in both water and on land. They begin looking for a column of stone to begin shaping.

Dagaunt - Strong Psyche or Psychic Rend (Strong Psyche prevents Sp Atk and Sp Def from being lowered. Psychic Rend lowers an opponents Sp Def on contact.)
Dagaunt spend time shaping their column. The designs can differ between each dagaunt. They spend most of their time alone. Those who try to spend to much time with a dagaunt can find their minds begin to fracture.

    Gigantamax Dagaunt-
The powers of the Darkest Day and Gigantamax have filled Dagaunt. His stone column has began a towering monolith, and it's said that looking directly at him can cause madness.

Feel free to post either of these on the Twitter as needed.

My inital idea was a cuthullu based mon, but that seemed to "mainstream"

This is definitely not my best. It looks really abstract, but I wasn't really feeling it this month.

Based on a night-gaunt. I had ideas, like having kinda a whale-ish creature with bat wings, but I barely got beyond the idea, hence the simple picture.
