Creatémon Challenge: February 2022 What Is The Creatémon Challenge? The Creatémon (that's "Create-A-'Mon") Challenge is a monthly event where you, the wonderful members of Lake Valor, can work on creating your own Pokémon that fits within a certain theme that changes from month to month. Rules & Regulations Each entry must include a name, type and visual representation in order to account. Other details may be included but are not required. Any art style can be used for the visual part of the entry. All submissions must contain at least one Fakemon or alternate form created specifically for the event. Evolutions/pre-evolutions/alternate forms of official Pokémon will be accepted unless stated otherwise in the monthly them. Evolutions, etc. of pre-existing fakemon that you created may be included in an entry as long as you add at least one new form for the event, which must be specified in your post. Entries may be submitted as individuals or worked on in teams. If you want to work in a group, then one member will submit the entry here, with a list of everyone who worked on it and what they did. Submissions and winners may be shared on the official Lake Valor Twitter account (@lakevalorforums), but only with the artist's permission. All submissions must follow the rules of Lake Valor. No offensive or NSFW content. Absolutely no plagiarism. Any participant caught plagiarizing will be disqualified. This Month's Theme: Ancient Pokémon Legends: Arceus just came out and serves as our first forray into the history of the Pokémon world before most of the series is set. As such, I felt that it would be fitting to have a theme this month that reflects that. And so, the focus of this month's contest will be to create-a-'mon that is ancient in some way. Whether this means that it is from the ancient past, connected to an ancient culture, just really old, or some other interpretation of the word is up to you. Important Notice: We also have a new feature moving forward. We will be sharing Creatémon submissions and the contest winners on the new Lake Valor Twitter account (@lakevalorforums). But only if you provide us with your express permission in your submission post (also share your twitter handle if you want us to credit you that way, or we can credit you by your LV name if you prefer), or you can share your work on Twitter yourself and let us know so that we can retweet it. Again, this is completely voluntary and unless you specifically tell us that we can, we won't. Prizes: 1st Place: 100 pp 2nd Place: 75 pp 3rd Place: 50 pp Consolation Prize: 10 pp All Entries Must Be Submitted by the end of the month. Any posts submitted or edited after that point in time will be disqualified. The voting thread will be opened shortly after that.
I suppose it's about time that I start taking part in these things myself again. Spoiler: Kittle & Sphiraoh Kittle, the Curious Cat Pokémon Type: Rock Abilities: Limber, Own Tempo, Sand Veil (HA) These young Pokémon are known to wander the desert in search of ancient ruins. Once one finds a suitable spot, it will do its best guard the area from invaders and thieves. Evolves at level 32 Sphiraoh, the Ancient Cat Pokémon Types: Rock/Flying Abilities: Limber, Own Tempo, Sand Veil (HA) These ancient Pokémon are often found guarding ancient tombs and temples, which makes excavation of these places by modern archaeologists a dangerous task as they will attack anyone they see as an invader regardless of intent. Very few trainers in the modern era have been able to tame these ferocious guardians.
Important Note: It looks like some of the entries this month were erased due to our recent site issues. As such, I'm now extending the submission deadline to March 5th so people can resubmit their entries.
Spoiler: Jac'ka & Duamuba Duamuba, the remains Pokémon. Typing: Rock/ghost Pokédex entry: This shy Pokémon makes its home in old jars and vases. It absorbs the energy of whatever is placed in the jar or vase Evolution method: Evolves at night if it's holding Bright Powder Jac'ka, the ancient Pokémon. Typing: Ghost/dark Pokédex entry: When this Pokémon gets strong enough it creates its own form, basing its image off of the jar it grew in. This Pokémon can sense the life force of people and Pokémon.
Deep in the ancient ruins, glyphs deattach themselves from the walls and seek out the power of words. And in one especially ancient set of ruins, these unown can become even more. When leveled up holding the strange mechanism, the unown can fuse with the ancient device and become Unseen. Trainers who are willing to plumb the depths of the ruins, and gather the power of all 28 unown can further evolve into Unarmed. Spoiler: Unown, Unseen, Unarmed A bit of an odd design to be sure, but it was fun to explore. Feel free to share this on Twitter, my twitter name is @HiddenLore
