    Create a Metagame
Create a Metagame (C.a.M.) is a new project idea I'm working on. As a competitive battler, I've always found it to be a neat idea to build a metagame with rules and regulations that I and a group of people have decided upon. The purpose of this thread is to have the input of what you, a Valorian, have in mind for the "ideal" metagame. When the polls end, we'll all get to work on building a metagame!
    The Rules
The rules of the metagame will be decided by the highest vote count of all voters. Here are the options explained in further detail:
How shall we divide up Pokémon?
Points - Pokémon will be assigned a "value" of sorts, and each team will be allowed to have only a certain amount of points(i.e. if the team limit is 10 points, the total value of your team can only add up to 10 or less). Each value given to a Pokémon will reflect how useful and viable they are. (i.e. a higher value for a more useful Pokémon--Bisharp as 7, Zebstrika as 4)
Tiers - Pokémon will be divided into groups of usefulness and viability, much like Smogon. Every Pokémon is assigned a group, and when you battle against another player, you can only use Pokémon in the same group as your opponent, however, "lower group" Pokémon are allowed.
Base Stats - Allow battles between Pokémon to be allowed only within a common base stat total range. For example: Mew, with a base stat total of 600, would be allowed in the range of 600 to 525, or 600 to 660.
Type - Teams must have a common type or types shared among Pokémon. Restrictions for this may include a second division of Pokémon by tiers, points, or base stats, or they may not have such restrictions at all.
    What battle clauses should apply?
Sleep clause - Only one Pokémon can be inflicted with sleep (as a result of an opponent's move) at a time.
Evasion clause - Pokémon may not use evasion-boosting moves in battle, nor have Moody as an ability (this is due to Moody being able to raise evasion). Pokémon with abilities that boost evasion in a certain weather must have a different ability.
Hazard clause - No hazards may be set by either team at any time. Hazards include: Stealth Rocks, Spikes, Toxic Spikes and Sticky Web.
Species clause - Only a certain amount of each species are allowed on each team. This is generally 1 of each species, but may be adapted to 2 of each species per team.
Option 1 - all the above clauses
Option 2 - all but hazard clause
Option 3 - sleep and evasion only
What battle format should we use?
Single battle - only one Pokémon on the field at a time from each team.
Double battle - two Pokémon on the field from each team.
Triple battle - three Pokémon on the field from each team.
Rotation battle - three Pokémon on the field from each team, only one is usable at a time. Players can rotate Pokémon during/in between turns.
Sky battle - only Pokémon of the flying type or with the levitate ability may be used.
Should we restrict Baton Pass, Shadow Tag, and weather abilities?
Option 1 - Baton Pass can be on at most three Pokémon on any team. Shadow Tag is not allowed, nor are any abilities that start weather.
Option 2 - Baton Pass is restricted the same way as Option 1. Shadow Tag and weather abilities are allowed.
Option 3 - Baton Pass is not restricted at all, same as Shadow Tag and weather abilities.
    The Goal
The idea of this project is for everyone to get involved in building something together with the other members of the community. It's purely for fun, so let's get to it! The poll above will be ended at the end of the month, so vote soon!

I like the project. Creating a Meta is a good idea if we include the competitive players of LV. It could be good to see the most amount participating on this Thread. I already left my opcions on the poll. Keep like that and try adding an status update talking about this Thread. With that you will assure that more persons will visit this (don't forget to put the link on the status update). If you think that you need help with it, send me a PM or talk with me on the Showdown Server, I will be pleased to help with this awesome idea.

I see a lot of support for the Points system. :O PokeBattle ftw... though not in its current incarnation.

    PokeBattle Beta ftw! :D

I really like the idea of the points system, because the teams will be very different for every player. Not like in OU when everybody has stupid Talonflame...

    Final Results
Pokémon will be divided up by points.
The hazard, sleep, species, and evasion clauses will all apply.
    Battles will be singles format.
Baton Pass can be on 3 Pokémon at most, and Shadow Tag and weather abilities will be allowed.
The next order of business: what restrictions to LVP (Lake Valor Points) should apply? How shall each Pokémon earn a point value? On what scale should we award points (i.e. from 1 to 5, 1 to 10, etc)?

For the points system I had a particular idea how to set up the thing. So lets say the scale is from 1-10. We'll have several sub categories to rank a Pokémon. For example, lets use Greninja. It would like something like this.
    Pokémon: Greninja
    States: 6
    Typing: 7
    Ability: 8
    Movepool: 8
Versatility(Roles this Pokémon can fill out): 7

1 being awful and 10 being perfect. Now of course these categories aren't set in stone. The point system could be used to set what Pokémon are allowed to compete with another(Similar to teirs but not based on usage. As RU and NU Pokémon can compete with OU Pokémon. This is just to avoid uneven matches).

I think something along the lines of grading a Pokémon overall (including abilities, moves, etc) would be something better. If Pokémon are graded on an overall scale, it would be easier and more comprehensive.
There's the option to use the same values as given by the PokeBattle community, and then there's the option to give values on our own as a poll of sorts. Once this is decided, we'll be able to consider other questions, so what do you guys think?
Should we use PokeBattle's values and improve on them as we see fit, or should we determine values entirely on our own?

We should do a combination of both as our competitive community isn't as developed as others.

    What combination would you suggest?

Probably something along the lines of we look at their evaluation, evaluate it ourselves and then we combine the two.

Isn't that what I had suggested?
I may not have been clear, however.

In any case, we'll need to figure out if we'd like to use the same 1000 scale as them, or if we'd prefer something simpler like 1 to 10 (others may also work). I think it'd be better to use our own scale and valuing methods to be more individualistic and accommodate the preferences of our own competitive community.
