    Critical Hits are a random events that occur in Pokémon battles. They add an additional 1.5x power to an attack approximately 6.25% of the time. However, sometimes they can be even more eventful and be the difference between a win or a loss. Critical hits ignore nearly all stat modifiers, making your 0.25x Special attack drop and your opponent's x4 Sp. Def from Calm Mind have no effect on your special attacking move that is a critical hit. Additionally, critical hits can occur more frequently with the use of moves (Focus Energy), items (Scope Lens, Razor Claw, Dire Hit), and abilities (Super Luck). There are also abilities that enhance the effects of Critical hits such as Sniper that makes critical hits have 2.25x power and Anger Point maximizing attack when being hit by by a critical hit. There are even moves (Frost Breath, Storm Throw) that always result in a critical hit! What do you think of Critical hits? Do you factor them in your teambuilding? Do they help or hinder your teams? Do you think they make Pokémon battles more luck based?

    I think that Critical hits are a great mechanic in Pokémon. I will be honest I never understood why Frost Breath and Storm Throw would always crit and what the usefulness that had instead of having more base power until I realized that crits ignore stat mods that would normally lower the damage caused. I think they are very useful in a battle, and the fact that they are chance based throws an element of randomness, but I don't think that they are pointless. They can be a massive turnaround when you are up against a super wall that relies heavily on stat mods.

    On most singles teams I have a Pokémon designed to crit with high-crit chance moves and a scope Lens because they can be so useful (Even though my Drapion never crits when using Cross Poison or Night Slash for some reason).

    Critical hits literally are the bane of my competitive existence. As a common victim of hax, I def have to deal with crits all of the time. I mean, I know how valuable crits are and how they can save your rear end in the most unexpected of times, but it seems that I only get crits when I don't need them.

    I don't like facing teams that really rely on crits such as teams built around Sniper Kingdra and Drapion. I think that people should just rely on skill and be happy when they happen to get a crit coming their way.

    I think that critical hits generally make the playing field more even for players. It adds in "random luck" that we see in other forms such as damage rolls, IVs, etc. that make the game fun if you aren't extremely competitive. On the flip side, they can also be really annoying for the really competitive players that had the advantage before a fateful critical hit by their opponent's Pokémon. But hey, it happens. My view on it is if you don't like the mechanic that much, don't play the game :P

    Critical hits are definitely needed to make the metagame more balanced. It is fair to all. You are not less likely to land a crit than your opponent and vice-versa. When Gen VI made its debut, crits were majorly improved (imo) to make it even more balanced. I don't have a problem with critical hits. There have been games where they've cost me, and other times, they've helped me out a lot. Critical hits are extremely common in the RPG genre in general; namely turn-based games.

    Critical Hits can definitely turn the momentum of battle in your favour. One moment it's going really badly for you, then BAM, a critical hit gives you momentum en route to a win. It's always sad to be on the other side of critical hits too.

    So, all in all: Annoying? Yes. Game Changing? Absolutely. Rage Inducing? No doubt about it.

    I think they're pretty fair, since each person gets the same chance at getting them unless they have an item or move for it. It's especially good because if one person has a ton of stat boosts for defense and such (say, a calm mind for example), the other person still has a chance to turn the battle around if they can land a critical hit.
