DATA LOST DATA DELETED Discussion/Idea Thread

Awesome! I'm so excited to get this RP going! Summer starts next week for me, so I'll have plenty of time to roleplay and brainstorm ideas Can't wait to see what's in store for our characters!!

I've been wondering about OBSOLETES for a time now. Are they like in a comatose state? Do they need to eat or anything-- Be hooked up to a machine? Are their memories lost upon re-waking up, or when they first fall "asleep?" If it's the first option (losing memory upon re-waking), it'd be cool if, for some reason later down the road, the squad had to extract a memory before an OBSOLETE reawakened somehow. Perhaps when the OBSOLETE was a doll, they saw something they weren't supposed to, and were somehow forced into an OBSOLETE state. Our squad would be pressed for time on extracting the memory (albeit idk how they'd even do that omg).
Just tossing out thoughts

 

Ohhhh @[member="Vanillite"]'s idea sounds awesome :O Though I'm not on the Andromeda team, that'd still be fun to read you guys doing.

I'm also wondering a bit about setting. I'm thinking we're all in the same city (with GG heading towards it right now) but it seems like there's also defined slums to it now. It'd be kinda helpful if we could get together what we all think this city is like so we don't worldbuild over eachother's ideas.

 

Maybe Faust doesn't even know where he's going right now! :p

So what sort of setting is this? I keep imagining it as a more medieval setting, which I'm pretty sure is incorrect, but is it more of a modern time with modern technology? Or maybe more of a post-modern one, with greater technology. I'm wondering what the rest of you have imagined for this.

 

I've been wondering about the setting too! I've been imagining it as like. . A more technologically advanced medieval setting? If that even makes sense. I don't even know if there is even a name for that sort of setting.
But now that you mention it, I could also see it in a post-modern setting! Maybe with some parts of the world using old technology because things are amuck.

 

Yeah I was with the idea of a post-modern setting too with old technology being used with some more advanced stuff
I was also thinking on some sort of post-apoc setting of some sort but dunno

 

Personally for the setting I've been imagining a sort of cyberpunk world (but not a Utopia, hence slum like areas) along the lines of Dimension W. A bunch of super flashy skyscrapers that surround the ANDROMEDA complex, but as you go further and further out of the centre it gets a bit more towards modern (our time) areas over the stereotypical futuristicy buildings, and then there is still natural stuff outside the city, but the city centre is at least a concrete jungle of tech and stuff. The other idea Ican imagine would be a Mado Magi sort of setting, because that's even crazier cyberpunk than Dimension W, but robots aren't a thing in that world, which I don't believe are a thing in DLDD.

I'm generic, that's why I should never think of settings. Who remembers and landmarks about my rp's setting... Exactly, it was legit described as a circular continent with a forest in the middle, because I'm bad at imagining stuff.

 

So it seems like we're pretty in agreement on it being a really advanced city in the middle that gets more like our time in tech as you go out and enter the slum areas. I think that's a pretty cool idea, and it is what I was sorta thinking of too.

Aside from setting, is there anything else up in the air that we want to nail down right now? I mean we can always establish stuff as it happens but if anybody thinks of something early that'd be nice too.

 

Well, this is a cyberpunk world, no duh that the big central organization is either holding some dark secret, too corrupt to realise what they are doing is wrong, or secretly manipulating the world to their Utopian tastes. However, if anyone has seen Assault on Arkham... NAOMI PUT YOUR HAND DOWN!. Sorry, so if anyone has seen Assault of Arkham, I'm kinda sensing a similar vibe here, if there is something about an OBSELETE who knew something they shouldn't (Riddler) and it makes the group realise they are on the wrong side.
