"Ah, that sounds really nice. I'm sure the other Pokémon here would appreciate that too!" Zachary's tail wagged a little bit, showing his excitement about Mystle's occupation. He took another sip from his drink, listening to more of Mystle's story. But when the Phantump asked about where he had come from, he stopped immediately. Without making his voice sound too nervous, he replied, "Well... uh... it's pretty far from here. It's not a noteworthy place, after all, but why care about the past when we're here right now?" A couple beads of sweat ran down the side of his face, and a little paw wiped them off rather quickly. As much as he liked talking to Mystle, he halfway hoped that they didn't want to ask anything else on his past.
While Angeni was explaning herself, I noticed Muni picking up the dirty dishes, putting them away, then slowly make his way towards Blaire. "Im guessing he's gonna try to get applied." Blake stated, watching Muni still making his way towards the Braxien. "So, besides your brother trying to apply to the guild. What do you do with your daily life after you're done farming?
Noticing that Zachary tensed up a little while talking about his past, Mystle gave him a compassionate and reassuring smile. At the same time, a few suppressed memories of his past drifted into his mind. The forest, the fire, the screams... Mystle hadn't quite forgotten about them despite all the effort he put into doing so. "Yeah... Perhaps it is better to leave the past buried." Mystle said with a slightly feigned smirk. "Then, let us speak of the future! What're your plans? Do you intend to tag along with the guild on missions? And perhaps most importantly... Do you recycle medical waste?" he asked coyly, and chummily wiggled whatever eyebrows Phantumps have at the last question.
"Yup. We both came here wanting to join the guild, however the lack of a Berry reserve was worrisome so I..decided to do that instead." Angeni smiled slightly, leaning abit onto the table. She admittedly had a bit too much pie, and it hurt a bit. "I often make perserves and other goods involving left over harvest." Muni sat down, looking at the table a second before going back to the Fire type. "I want to become a explorer."
Ignatius nodded, looking out the window of his office toward the rising sun. "A risk?" he chuckled. "At the risk of sounding overconfident, I am not worried about the scouting. I protected my younglings as we crossed over this land; I can protect myself." He narrowed his gaze suddenly, not in anger, but in precision. Ignatius gave Kimat a hard, almost cutting look. "I have been an explorer since before you were born. I have been to the tops of great peaks, and the bottoms of deep abysses," he said. "I appreciate your concern, but you need not worry." He grabbed a satchel at the corner of the room and made for the exit. "I will return by dawn," he said. Blaire smiled deceptively. "An explorer?" she wondered, gazing him over. He was a limber Meowth, but a strong one. His scars and mannerisms told a whole history of strife. "I can add your name to the roster, sure, but... why do you want to become one?"
"W..why?" Muni faltered, trying to think his response carefully. "I've seen..many horrible things, experienced them as well. I want to help, to hopefully prevent those things from happening again... meanwhile my sister.." He looked at Angeni, who was laughing about something while conversing with the others. "...She wanted to explore and see the world beyond her..our village. I decided to seek out the chance to be a Explorer so that I can have the ability to help others, and seek out new experiences that my sister can not as the Berry Farm owner."
Kimat shrunk away slightly at the Guildmaster's sudden harsh glare. As Ignatius grabbed his satchel and moved to leave, Kimat said, "I'm not worried about your safety, Guildmaster. I'm worried about-" About what? Ignatius said he'd return at dawn, and Kimat doubted he'd have any trouble keeping his word. The Guild could survive a day without their Guildmaster to run things. So why did the Absol feel a sense of dread? Kimat shook his head. "Good luck, Ignatius," he finally said. He rose as the Guildmaster made his exit, but didn't immediately follow.
"Heh... you're right," Zachary smiled. "I'm not really planning on joining any of the teams; I feel that I'm most useful here, at the Recycle Shop. I just feel like each and every Pokémon has a purpose here, and mine is to recycle items." He began eating some of his roasted Apricorn. "And yeah, I've had to recycle some used Seeds before. I'd be willing to do some work for you if there's anything you need from me!" He took a glance at some of the other members of the guild, and was happy knowing that most of them were getting to know each other. There was Rai, who didn't really seem to be the social type, but other than that, the Zorua seemed confident that this was a nice group. As he was finishing his second breakfast, he looked back towards the Star Ball Cafe and muttered, "I wonder if Eira and Kai would let me get another free breakfast... Maybe I should go ask..."
Eira's ears twitched as she heard Zachery pondering for another free breakfast. Seeing as that the bar was currently manned by Kai, who was helping one of the younger Pokémon choose some food, she walked over to Zachery and Mystle. "I heard that, you Munchlax. That is why I said only one drink and one meal for everyone. Because I know that you would eat the whole pantry if you had a chance." Eira replied in a deadpan voice as she went to take a seat at Zachery's table.
"Thank you, Kimat. Your concern gives me strength," Ignatius said curtly. He beckoned the Absol out with his tails. "Come downstairs. You ought to have a bite to eat before the day begins. You're looking rather peckish." So, leading the way, Ignatius strode down the stairs. Passing by the café, he saw two of his close younglings sitting down. "Eira! Zachary!" he called to them. "I shall be out for the day. Let the others know that I will return by dusk." With few more than those words, he strode out through the front gates of the guild, into the wilderness beyond. Blaire looked at the young Meowth with a fine gaze, almost analytically, hunched over the table on her elbows. She hummed in deep thought. Looking upon Muni, she knew without a doubt that his heart was in the right place; a quality that she knew Ignatius valued. "Are you prepared for this?" she asked. "Are you prepared for the dangers that you may face? The day may come when you go out into those dungeons and never return."
Muni's gaze steeled, staring at the table as he thought. "I am, since I was a kitten I've come to the fact that my vitality is limited and will one day give out. Even though I know I won't last forever, that doesn't mean that I should just hide away and prefer quantity over quality. I'd rather fall young knowing I've done some good than knowing that I've lived long and done nothing." Muni was silent, he didn't want those melancholy words to hit the ears of his candle sister. She had trouble accepting mortality, and he'd rather her happy than falling into her depressed ruts again.
At the mention of food, Kimat's stomach growled again. After their conversation, he really didn't feel like eating, but his stomach said otherwise. He followed the Guildmaster down to the ground floor, keeping his expression as neutral as possible. Kimat ambled up to the café and stood, waiting for someone to take his order while he considered what he'd done.
"Gah, Eira," Zachary chuckled as he watched one of the Vulpix twins walk over towards him and Mystle. "It's like you can hear almost everything I say when it comes to food." He made enough room for Eira to sit down at their table. He motioned towards his drink and said, "But if anything, the food is always great." Zachary then noticed that Ignatius and Kimat had come downstairs, apparently just finished from a conversation. The guildmaster seemed a bit troubled, but he felt a little better when he heard the Ninetales say that he would be out for the day. The Zorua made a little saluting motion with his paws, and replied, "Gotcha guildmaster!"
Blaire liked this Meowth. His heart was strong, though it had some cracks in it. He had suffered, but he seemed to be using that suffering to take the next step forward. She felt a familiar feeling rise in her chest, and she had to breathe a sigh to release it. "Well, usually you'd have to schedule this discussion with the Guildmaster," she admitted. "But, since he's going to be out all day, I'll write a report to him about why you want to join. In the meanwhile, I'll update the rosters and add your name, kay?"
Kai noticed the scarred Absol taking place at the bar and rolled his eyes, while he finished bringing the food out for another customer. Then he grabbed the writing block Eira used to keep track of the orders and wlked over to Klimat. "What will it be?" ——— "I have to be," she teased, "you eat a ton normally.' Eira had watched Ignatius and Klimat come down the stairs, the Absol going to the bar and their guildmaster coming to them to inform he was leaving for the day. Her heart cleched at that, but she put up a brave face and nodded. "Yes, guildmaster." She relied softly.
The arrival of the Vulpix - Kai, he believed - brought Kimat out of his thoughts. "Roasted Apricorn, light on the seasoning," the Absol said simply. He scanned the room, looking for somewhere to sit that was relatively secluded. In the process, he took note of how many young Pokémon filled the room. "I just agreed to play babysitter, didn't I..?" Kimat grumbled to himself. Eventuay, he found a spot where he could sit alone and took it, waiting patiently for his meal to cook.
Blank-faced, Blaire stared at Muni's paw for a moment before realizing his intentions. "Oh, right!" she said, her face flushed as she reached over for a handshake. How very embarrassing. "Forgive me, I, uh... Normally the Guildmaster handles all this business," she admitted. "Is there anything else I can do for you?"
"I understand. ..I'll be with my sister, at the Berry Farm, if anyone wishes to speak with me.." Muni adjusted his worn hat before leaving to sit next to Angeni once more.
Blaire waved goodbye to Muni as he went off to join his... sister. That word still did not sit quite right in her mind. What an odd duo. She pouted when she noticed Rai was still at the café bar, a distant expression on his face. She'd been waiting to see if he'd noticed her waving earlier, and nothing. He was still waiting. Blaire went to approach him, but then halted and turned around. Maybe he was deep in thought? No, he was just bored. She turned back around again. But what if he really just didn't want to talk? Running herself in circles with thought, she literally began walking in circles till finally she turned around, her mind set. She tapped Rai on the shoulder. "Hey!" she said. "Care to chat?"
