Going to say it loud and proud: I hate daylight savings time. I have to waste ten minutes twice a year figuring out how to adjust the clocks on my appliances, I think I'm either super late or super early to wherever I'm going the next morning, I probably have the sun in my eyes when I was relieved to not have to stare into its glory for 20 minutes of driving or riding, and I'm more likely to get into a car accident because someone's either sleep-deprived or late to where they're going, and suddenly it's getting dark and cold way earlier in the evening which makes me less willing to do errands. All so we can save on the cost of running gas lamps and making sure farmers can work in the pre-morning dark because electric streetlights and tractor headlights still haven't been invented in 2019 apparently. I hate daylight savings time so much that I'm not even participating this year. As the clocks moved back, so did my bedtime and my wake up alarm. My sleep schedule remains unchanged in relation to the earth's rotation and the sun, just everything else moved around it. And honestly, I think it's a bad sign of legislators being afraid of change. Everyone I talked to hates it (at least the springtime one where for one day you get less sleep because you didn't go to bed early like me), but they're too afraid to get rid of it. Rather than every governmental body just agreeing to get it over with an abolish it (going through change one time for the rest of forever), we keep putting it off and have to deal with change twice a year every year instead. It's like not going to a checkup with your doctor, and so instead of spending one afternoon getting treated for something, it continues to plague you forever. It's embarrassing and painful. So... that's my two cents which I will value at about $12.50. How about you? Do hate the idea of daylight savings in 2019 as much as I do, or are you in favor of it? Or do you just not care because all your clocks adjust automatically anyway and the sunshine has no command over you?
It’s annoying (even my Grandparents hate it), but I’m used to it. If they completely got rid of the daylight savings time system, that would be great.
I've always hated daylight savings time. I enjoy there being no change to anything, especially my sleep schedule as if I don't already have a hard time sleeping without help. And for kids, it is even worse since they don't get the sleep that they need anyway, thanks to school, but to add the two times a year where their sleep schedule changes, whether for better or for worse depending on if we lose or gain an hour, then it is even worse. I say that it should be gotten rid of, it was helpful when the farmers needed it, but now, it is just an annoyance to everyone.
I hate daylight saving time. It never even served a purpose to begin with. My High school teacher told us that the idea of daylight savings time was given in a letter to a university by Ben Franklin as a joke. They took it seriously. It never helped farmers as people who actually farm, wake up when the sun comes up and stop working when the sun goes down, they don't look at clocks (and what common man even had clocks back then let alone a farmer). Its an annoyance that always bothers me, it was obsolete the moment it was put into practice and continues to grow even more obsolete as the years tick by.
I really don’t mind it, but I heard that they’re trying to remove it where I live. I wouldn’t be against that. It would be helpful if the appliances would change the clocks on their own though. (I know some do, but there’s always that one thing that doesn’t change automatically and you don’t know how to change the time.)
It's annoying to me that first day, but I don't really mind it so much after that. I've just gotten used to the idea of it. I'm just relieved that I'm living in an area where everybody actually practices it, because I know there are some places and small communities that don't, so when anybody involved with those communities is planning on doing anything they basically have to know the time both with and without daylight savings to make sure they're not super later or super early to where they're going. Now that sounds like a huge pain in the butt to me.
Daylight savings is dumb, literally everything about it is awful and it never should have been made a thing. The sooner that we can finally get rid of daylight savings time, the better.
*Slams hand on table* I got in trouble because of DST, here's the story I had to be up by 9:00 EST and my self setting alarm was a day ahead without me knowing. What happened was it said "8:00" so I was like "Oh I still got an hour why can't I sleep?" My dad bursts into my room and goes "WHY AREN'T YOU UP!?" and got yelled at for an hour DST = Don't Start Tonight (idk)
