I've wanted to do a randomizer Nuzlocke for a while, and what better game to do it on than one of my favorites, White 2! I have all the rules that I'm using listed below, so check them out if you're interested. I'll try to update somewhat regularly, although due to my schedule, it may take a while to progress the story.​

- Rules - ​

⊰✧ Only catch the first Pokémon you encounter in each area. If you fail to catch it, you may not find another. Any gift Pokémon are counted as gifts, not an encounter.​

⊰✧ Every Pokémon that you catch must be nicknamed.​

⊰✧ If a Pokémon faints, it is considered dead and must be perma-boxed and never used again.​

⊰✧ Dupes Clause: Duplicate Pokémon that you encounter can be ignored. Duplicates include Pokémon you have caught before and their evolutionary families; including dead ones.​

⊰✧ HM Clause: If you cannot proceed in the game due to having no Pokémon that can learn an HM, you may catch an extra Pokémon to use just for that HM. You may not use that Pokémon in battle.​

⊰✧ Shiny Clause: Due to the rarity of shiny Pokémon, any shiny that you encounter can be caught and used.​

Thanks very much, and good luck on your own 'locke! I love all then Gen 5 games personally, I love replaying them as much as I can.

I'm super excited to finally be able to do a Randomizer Nuzlocke! I've been wanting to do one of these for ages, and I finally got my randomizer and emulator working properly. I'm going to be doing this 'locke journal a bit differently than most of my other ones, since I can take screenshots of my emulator! So be prepared for tons of screencaps along with my commentary.

Without further ado, let's get into it!


This intro screen looks pretty, I really love how it looks.


After answering a ton of stupid questions from my mom, I agreed to meet Bianca and get a Pokédex! I ran into my rival along the way, whom I named after [member="Satix"], and he tagged along to look for her. We found her on top of the lookout, and she gave a choice of a starter Pokémon!

Let's see what our options are-


Rotom is pretty cool! Not one of my favorites, but still really neat as a starter.

THE POKÉGODS HAVE SMILED UPON ME TODAY. I KNOW WHAT MY STARTER IS GOING TO BE


Hell yeah we are. I named my Dunsparce Ragnarok as per usual. I got the Pokédex from her too, which even though I won't be completing it due to this being a 'locke, it's still nice to have.


...and I clearly made the right choice, because damn this 'sparce is godly. Fighting/Dragon with Magic Bounce and those attacks?! I'm so happy right now I could cry.


After that, I got challenged by Satix for my first ever battle!


It's pretty funny that he ended up with Rotom, since it's actually one of [member="Satix"]'s favorite Pokémon. Kind of neat! His Rotom was a right pain, though- it knew Extrasensory, which was super-effective on my Dunsparce. Thankfully, he only used it once, then he used Drill Peck and then spammed Rain Dance while I KO'd him with Relic Song.


I barely survived, but we did it! Ragnarok grew two levels from that, which was awesome.


Clearly my mom needs glasses, because she thinks my Dunsparce is an Oshawott. I got the Running Shoes and a Town Map from her, and with that, I was off to the first Route!


Thank you for not mistaking my glorious 'sparce for an Oshawott.

Bianca showed me how to catch Pokémon and then gave me several Pokéballs of my own to use before heading off. I then made my first encounter on this route, which was-


Magneton! It kept using Hydro Pump on me, but I managed to whittle its HP down and capture it. It only took two balls, which wasn't bad. I named it Magneto since I couldn't think of anything else.


Ground-type with Normalize is... interesting, but it's not terrible. It has some interesting moves, and not a bad nature, either.

Yeah, randomizers are tons of fun! I have pretty much everything randomized- moves, abilities, types, items, TMs, trainer class names, etc. It makes for a really interesting game, haha.

First off, I figured I'd let you guys know that I found a code to turn on Challenge Mode, so that's what I'll be using for this 'locke. It's just to make things a tad more difficult than normal, it's not an insanely hard mode. But with a randomizer, you never know, haha.

I did some training on the first route before heading to the next town (the other Pokémon on that route was Finneon, so I got pretty lucky with Magneton).


Thank you Alder, she's quite a beauty.

There isn't much to do in Floccesy Town right now, so I just went east to Route 20.


The leaves here look really pretty! I also had my first encounter on this route, which was-


Girafarig! I like Girafarig quite a bit, actually- it's surprisingly fun to use. I caught her with very little issue, which was good, and I named her Selene.


She has some interesting stats, as well! She learned Crush Claw upon leveling up, which was pretty neat. I battled through the trainers on the route before heading north to Floccesy Ranch. My first encounter there was-


Weedle! Not a terribly exciting Pokémon, but hey, Beedrill is pretty sweet. I caught her and named her Zhu Li, because I got Korra on the brain I guess.


...and damn, those moves. I'm lucky that I caught her on my first ball, I would have hated to lose a Pokémon to Sheer Cold this early. Another good thing about Weedle is-


-is that it evolves very early! I can't wait to have an awesome butt-kicking Beedrill. I also ran into my Rival, Satix in the ranch, and I beat his Rotom again quite easily. Magneto is really OP with his Tail Glow move, he can boost his special attack ridiculously in just one turn.


Sorry for shooting your Rotom with a +3 Hydro Pump. Better luck next time?


And here we have a good example of the item randomizer in this game. Some of the items I pick up are incredibly random, haha. It's pretty awesome.

I battled one of the trainers in the ranch, and he had a Rattata. It was no real problem to take down, but-


...WHY?


WAS THAT NECESSARY.

It wasn't very effective anyway, it was just kind of hilarious.


I actually laughed really hard at this. Normally this Plasma Grunt throws the Frustration TM at you, but instead he threw me Sweet Kiss.

...so did he technically just blow me a kiss? A'ight, I'll take it.


I did some training with my team before heading back to Floccesy Town, and Zhu Li is now a Beedrill! She has the Illuminate ability now, which isn't fantastic, but at least it's not Slow Start.

Alder took me inside his training dojo after I got back to town, and had me train with some of his students.


'School Kid' is apparently changed to 'Swimmer ♀', which is a bit awkward when the School Kid is a boy.


My Dunsparce loves me.

After that, I did a little bit more training to get my team up to Lv.12 to take on Cheren's Gym. I didn't want to be too overleveled, but I did want to at least be on par with his lowest-level 'mons.


THIS ASSHOLE DIGLETT, MAN. Cheren, your students are dicks. First off it gets a burn, then it gets a crit and KOs my poor Girafarig. Rest in peace, Selene- you weren't on the team long, but you will be missed.


Regardless, here we go! Hopefully Cheren is more forgiving than his students.


He is also apparently a Doctor, which means 'Leader' is replaced with 'Doctor' in this run.

oh my god that means Doctor Drayden is a thing this is great


His Budew thinks it's a giant legendary dragon, apparently. It knew Swagger and kept spamming it, so it was kind of irritating. I ended up having to switch to Magneto and using Tail Glow and Dragonbreath to take it out.


You had a Patrat on your actual team, Cheren. Have some originality, man! It went down with no problem, though.


A Bidoof is not a wall, Cheren. I OHKO'd it with Hydro Pump.


FIRST BADGE GET! It wasn't too bad of a Gym battle, but I'm still proud of my team!


And he gives me an awesome TM as well. I taught it to Magneto, which will definitely help on his moveset.


Bianca gave me Pluck as well, which is pretty interesting. I love the random TMs, they're so interesting. I also got the C-Gear and the Xtransceiver, both of which I probably will never use.


Satix then runs into the gym with guns blazing, so I guess I'll end it off there.

I'll be heading to Virbank in the next episode, which will be fun! I dunno if I'll do the Pokéstar Studios for fun yet or not, if it's randomized it'll be stupidly difficult. Either way, see you guys then, and if you have any questions or comments, feel free to reply!

After beating Cheren, I healed up my team and got ready to head to the next area, Virbank City. I actually went to high school near a town called Verbank, which is kind of cool, haha.


Goddamnit Bianca, you're as bad as Kaepora Gaebora.


I ran into Cheren again on Route 20, and he gave me and Satix some berries, which was nice. I guess I'll see what kind of Pokémon I can encounter in the dark grass, just for the hell of it-

I also ran into these Twins who are apparently Champions. I beat them easily. Does this mean I beat the game now? No? Well, drat.

I did make it to Virbank with no problem, though! The lady at the gate gave me some Great Balls, and my mom called me just as I got there, but after that, I ran into Roxie from the next Gym.


Nice alliteration there.

I then went south to the Virbank Complex to get another Pokémon there! I ran into a ton of Girafarig there, which was a bit depressing because I did just lose a Girafarig in the last Gym, and I can't catch a new one due to dupes clause. I did eventually find a new Pokémon, though-


A Grotle! The Turtwig line is interesting, so I'm pretty happy to have this guy. I didn't want to hurt it too much, and I thankfully caught it in a Great Ball without injuring it.


A Fire-type Grotle? Sure, I'll take it. Not the best nature, but at least it could make an interesting mixed attacker, especially with those moves! He learned Tri Attack upon levelup, as well.

I then decided to see what other Pokémon were in the area, and-

So, that was an experience. Hey, at least it gives great EXP, so they're great for level-grinding!


I also found some 3,000-year-old-bling. Did AZ lose his jewelry again? too bad for him bc i sold it

After getting my team up to Lv.16-17, I decided to tackle Roxie's Gym! I really like the gym layout, even if it's not really a puzzle- the band itself is really awesome.


Roxie's two Gym Trainers had... interesting trainer class names. To say the least.


Time to take on Roxie herself, though! I'm optimistic, even though my Pokémon may be slightly underleveled.


This Psyduck was a bit of a pain, mostly because I had to switch out because Magneto couldn't touch it due to his Normalize ability (because apparently this Psyduck is a ghost. okay). I did eventually take it out with Amazon, though!


Thankfully this Stunky couldn't really touch Ragnarok, so I took it out pretty easily by spamming Charge Beam and Relic Song.


...and this Drifloon just got OHKO'd by a crit Hydro Pump. GG, Roxie.


SECOND BADGE GET! I'm proud of my team, it was a bit more challenging than the first gym, which is good! I like a bit of challenge in my gyms.


Interesting choice of TM- I may use it on a frail Pokémon if I catch one with bad defenses.


Then this guy came up to advertise Pokéstar Studios- which I will be tackling in the nest update. I'm really having fun with this run so far, and I hope you guys are enjoying it!

Randomizing everything is tons of fun, honestly. It's much more enjoyable when you have no idea what type a Pokémon is or what moves they could have. Glad you're enjoying it so far!

After the last update, since I didn't have anything else to do in Virbank, I headed north to Pokéstar Studios.


Thanks. Hopefully I won't be staying here too long, haha.

I watched Roxie's father's movie, and right then I decided that I would never actually do any Pokéstar movies, since the types and abilities are still randomized. That makes most of the movies impossible to complete.

I ended up having to try making one movie, which I failed spectacularly at because of the randomized types. That's fine, at least movie failures don't count in a Nuzlocke, haha.


That's great, I won't be coming back.

After that, I headed back down to the Virbank docks, only to find the docks being held up by Team Plasma.


No, your king and hero is a great man. You guys are scum.


Apparently all of the Neo Team Plasma members are Leaders. Alright.


Hey, at least the HMs aren't randomized! Thank god, that would have made the game unnecessarily hard.

I ended up having to chase the Grunts back to Route 20, where they tried to hide before making a getaway.


You aren't very good at hiding, are you.

I ended up beating her, then they retreated from Virbank, and I was finally allowed to cross the sea to get to Castelia!


I love this mini-cutscene, it's so cool.

I got the bike right as I got to Castelia, which made traveling around the city so much easier. I did some exploring around the city before continuing my main quest.


This guy threw a Light Screen TM at me, which I guess is cool. I probably won't be needing screens much in this run, but it's neat to have.

Nothing else too spectacular happened, so I stopped off at the Gym in this city on the way back to the Pokémon Center. Iris then came up and started asking about Burgh and Team Plasma.


Sounds like me. Me and Burgh would get along well, with our shared love for Bug-types and art and whatnot.

Iris ran off after that, so I took the opportunity to go to the desert route north of Castelia to get a new encounter! I only have 4 Pokémon at this point, so a new addition would be nice. It did startle me a bit since my first encounter on that route had completely different music, and it turned out to be-


-oh. So that's why the music was different. Still, holy shit, a Legendary on my team this early? I gotta catch this guy! It was a bit of a pain because the Sandstorm kept hurting him, but I thankfully caught him without almost killing him. I named him Alloy since he's made out of metal and all.


Damn, those moves! It's typing is somewhat amusing, and its nature is alright, which is pretty cool! Thank god it didn't use Whirlwind, I would have been so sad if I lost this guy.

After catching Alloy, I made my way to the Castelia Sewers, which apparently is a good hiding place for Team Plasma. I met up with my rival Satix there and we teamed up for a bit, before finally cornering Team Plasma in the back area of the sewers.


You are villains, that's why we're treating you as such.


You just said you weren't villains, then you talk about the Pokémon that you stole. Sure, that's totally a not-villainous act.

They were easily to beat, thankfully- Satix's Rotom is a pretty good Pokémon! I'm not looking forward to fighting it when his team gets stronger, haha.


Satix did give me the Strength HM as well, which might be useful in the future! I can also get another Pokémon in here, and my first encounter was-


OKAY WHAT IS WITH ALL THESE LEGENDS?? I'm not complaining, but geez! I've ran into 4 different legendaries so far in the runthrough, haha. I did end up catching it with some Heal Balls I picked up from the Castelia Pokémon Center, though! I named it DeLorean because time travel. I'm so original with nicknames.


Apparently Celebi is a Dragon-type with a poison immunity. That's pretty neat, I'm looking forward to training this guy!

I then went up to the Castelia Gardens from the sewers, and I got yet another encounter there! It ended up being-


A Chatot! I actually love Chatot, so I'm happy that I caught one. I named him Rapture after a shiny Chatot that I hatched last year, and the name kind of stuck.


Telepathy isn't a super great ability in a Nuzlocke, but those moves are pretty interesting! I may add him to the team later, but for now he's staying in the box.

I did stay in the gardens to train a bit, because my team is a bit underleveled at this point. I got a few levels on them before heading back to the Pokémon Center to heal up. On the way back through the sewers, though, I encountered something that I thought I would never see in my life-


holy shit is that a shiny Celebi

I actually paused the game to just stare at this beautiful thing for a while, haha. I have NO idea how I actually managed to find a shiny this early in the game, but hey, I'll take it! I was really scared that I would knock her out, so I was really careful with whittling down its HP. Thankfully, I did end up catching it with no problem! I named her Sakuya after the spirit of Konohana in Okami.

Yeah, I know she doesn't technically have a gender, but shiny Celebi is forever female in my mind due to Mystery Dungeon 2. I added her to my team in place of DeLorean, so if she ever dies, I have a back-up Celebi, haha.
