Imagine that you're stuck on a desert Island for the the rest of your life - like 50 years. You have the means for complete self-sustainability and have free time to just play video games. However, you are only allowed to have five games on the island. Which five games would you play? Rules (though you don't have to follow these exact rules): - You can select five games, maximum. - Your game can have the DLC included or be an internet-based multiplayer game. - Your games can be from any console. Here are mine: 1. Civilization III - I've been playing Civilization III since I was about 8 years old, and I am not stopping anytime soon. There are numerous civilizations, types of games, types of maps, ways to win, and ways to play. I've barely scratched the surface on the game's content despite my likely 700+ hours with the game. 2. Star Wars Battlefront II (2017) - This is my most played game of all time for a good reason. I should clarify that this game would only be a choice if I could have people to play with online for the duration of my visit. Otherwise, 3. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest - Despite this being my favorite game, this is the one I have the most hesitation over. On one hand, I've replayed this game more times than any other game, but on the other hand, this game is barely over an hour long at the pace I play. Still, I visit this game often and would appreciate a platformer to mix things up with. 4. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -If I could only bring one game, chances are that the one game would be Skyrim. This game is so vast and immense and carries a strong capacity for roleplay and escapism. I couldn't imagine a more worthwhile game to spend my desert Island time with. 5. NBA 2K - This one could be a bit of a head scratcher, but there are few games as replayable as sports games. I'd probably go with 2K16 for this, but I don't have that strong of a preference. I have over 1000 hours in dumb sports games for a reason. Bonus: Red Dead Redemption II - If my Battlefront II plan doesn't work, I'd rather bring Red Dead Redemption II. My lineup needs to have a shooter, and this would be a darn fun one to have, given its lengthy story and fun world to goof around in. It'd be a shame to not bring any Persona games, but that's just how the cookie crumbles.
Oooh an interesting topic. I have to go with a mix of replayability and longevity. 1. Binding of Isaac Rebirth (with full DLC): It's ol' reliable for a reason, if I need to kill a bit of time or just don't feel like playing anything else, Isaac is there. Endlessly replayable, a great roguelite to have around. 2. Dota 2: The addiction must continue. This would let me let off some steam after a hard day of shelling coconuts, drinking puddles and scavenging. Also lets me keep up with my buddies 3. MTG Arena: The other addiction. If I can't have IRL magic cards to play with someone else I might as well play this forever. 4. Pokémon Infinite Fusion: Just feels like the best one for replayability and variety with randomization options. Would love if they add more regions to play in the future/sequels but I will take this over official games for long term play. 5. Portal 2: Lots of great puzzles to play to flex my brain a bit, the player made rooms give loooooots of stuff to do.
Sorry I missed this for a month. Was busying doing not this. 1. Minecraft This is a game I play in spurts. I'll get the craving to play it, play it a bunch for several weeks, then drop it again for an unspecific amount of time, then get the craving again. Even though I don't play it consistently, it is a very important game in my path to becoming the gamer I am today (whether that's a good or a bad thing remains to be seen), and honestly it's the only game I've played that I can really say has endless replay value. 2. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate The best option I have for a collectathon. There's so much stuff to do and collect and it's just fun in general. Plus the multiplayer lets me play with the friends I have who aren't trapped on this island with me. 3. Marvel Rivals This one is very much a product of the time I'm writing this. The game is insanely fun and very endless, especially since it's ongoing and will be getting new stuff for a while. But knowing me, this might not make the list in a few months. 4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild This game is basically a sandbox with magic tech and a ridiculous physics engine. I could play it forever. I also prefer this over its sequel because of how little there is to actually go do in terms of quests and side stuff. I know that seems like an odd sentiment to have but I honestly felt overwhelmed by Tears of the Kingdom to the point where I didn't play it for several months and just gave up on doing sidequests so I could finish it. BotW not having much to do makes it much more fun for me as there's not a laundry list of tasks to do with no direction in how to approach them. 5. Balatro It's Balatro. I'm sure you know what it is. It's dangerously addictive and has a ton of stuff to unlock. This could probably last me a year or two by itself.
