So, who used to go to the video store Friday night and rent a video game for the weekend? What was the occasion? What games did you rent that you ended up buying on your own later? What games did you rent and waste your weekend with because they were bad? Share all your rental stories, all you old gaming folk!

I used to rent video games from blockbuster when it was still in buisness, also a Rogers video store! The wooooorst video game I've rented was the damn Superman 64; it looked cool at first, costed 15 dollars, but when I played it.......

    Yeah, haha.

I used to rent games from Blockbuster (when it was still around) and Gamefly. It was pretty fun, but I always grew an attachment to the games I rented, so I would regret it later. I honestly don't remember the games I rented besides Dead or Alive, which was the bomb. Best weekend ever.

Well I've only rented games for a playstation a few times from one of the hotels I stayed in in Johor Baru. This hotel is amazing! They have special rooms for parents with kids! The rooms have a King size bed and then a bunk bed that is put beside the king-sized bed but there's a wall between the two so it gives off the sense that it is a separate room all together - which is awesome for both parties except there's no door and the wall does not reach all the way to the ceiling. Then these mini-rooms have themes!

The best part is that it comes with a tiny tv which has a playstation attached, I can't remember which model it was because it was a long while ago (and the hotel keeps track on how old the kids are because the rooms are just that great! Also it has a different rating... meh).

My sister and I rented a few games but never for long since we usually only stayed there for a max of maybe four days, sometimes five and we'd get bored of the games because we're in Johor Baru with an awesome mall - that sells so many games at the best prices since competition is so high - right beside it as well as meeting friends and family.

I rented from Movie Gallery and Blockbuster back when they were still around. It was always pretty fun but taking them back sucked xD

My family used to rent Playstation 2 games from Family Video. Really the only memorable games though was a Superman game. It was so memorable I forgot the name. XD

Renting was where it was at. It was a great way of playing through a game and most of its entirety to see if it was good enough to buy or not. Sure, is cost $5-7 to do so, but at least you got the full game to play around with as opposed to a short, boring demo like what they do with most games these days.

Only once, and to be honest I don't remember where I rented it from, but I do remember it was a really bad SpongeBob game.

Awww man, renting video games on a Friday night was a freaking TRADITION in my life. I loved renting at least three games for the consoles I owned. Now today I just buy them, and if I don't like them I would return them for store credit so I would buy another game.

Oh god yes, in the past I would do this all the time, haha. I hated it when I had to bring them back. Felt like such a shame. X_X

I never really rented any video games. My older brother definitely still does all of the time. We have a really good video game rental store where I live and he seems to go there on a weekly basis. He brings back all sorts of stuff from there :)

Sometimes, getting to rent a game from Blockbuster or a store called Family Video was a treat for me and my brother back then, when we would go to stay over at our grandmother's house on some weekends. I rented Pokémon Mystery Dungeon from them once or twice before buying the games, and when Super Smash Bros. Brawl first came out, we would always pick up that one for a few days. We'd stay up for hours just to play matches or beat the Subspace Emissary and hated when it was time to turn it in to the video store... until we got our own copy. Then the all-nighters became endless! We don't rent games anymore, though, both because Blockbuster is gone and because we just prefer buying games we want when they come out. Even moreso with the 3DS, now that downloadable Demos are sometimes available in the eShop. Good times, though!

Oh god, yes! I used to rent Pokémon games all the time. But the worst part was I'd have to turn them before I even got halfway through the game.

I forgot what games i regretted renting...I rented a Wii game from Blockbuster.(woo that was a LONG time ago) I beat that game in about 1 to 2 days...It was too easy so i did not buy it...It was a Nicktoons game. I loved the Gamecube version of one...i forgot what it was called...

In the Wii one you had to fight a giant Booger (sorry for saying that but if you know the name of this game tell me i forgot...XD)

I intended to do it a lot in the past from Xtravision but I usually ended up renting movies instead. When I did rent a game, the Xtravision store I used then closed down, with the next nearest shop being a car journey away. So nuts went the idea of renting games. :(

Nope; I vastly prefer keeping my games after I'm done with them, in case I want to replay them.
The only exception to this was Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which I sold to help pay for Xenoblade Chronicles.

Don't believe I ever have. I get kind of attached to my games and don't want to return them lol, so renting's out of the question. Owning my own copy makes me happy and that'll never change.. but I can definitely see the appeal in renting, it's just not for me. ;c

I rented Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga for the Wii from Blockbuster a few years ago. I don't think I've ever rented any other games however. I do find that I get bored of games slower when I don't own them, since I can't binge until I'm burnt out of interest. Like, I used to look forward to playing Spore at my cousin's place whenever I came over, but when I got the game for myself I got bored after a couple of months.

I've never rented games before, but I have borrowed games from friends. I usually don't like renting things, especially games- I get attached to them and then don't want to give them back, haha. I've only borrowed games before to try them out, and either not liked the game or I eventually purchased said game for myself.

I've only rented a game once and that was on PS2 from Hollywood Video.
