    After playing the newest generation of games, do you have trouble going back and adjusting to older Generations? Remembering certain Pokémon don't evolve anymore, don't learn those cool new moves, certain types don't exist, and weaknesses and resistances have been tweaked.

    Sometimes I'll have trouble remembering that a Pokémon can't learn a certain move because it only exists later, and I'm still a little switched up about the latest resistance changes, but otherwise I should be fine. But man, when I first played Gen I for the first time after Gen IV, it was honestly a shock to me how much the game had changed. I hadn't even remembered that Dark and Steel didn't exist, and brought a Bite Kangaskhan to beat Sabrina. :wry:

    I found that the hardest thing about going back on generations is the graphics. The gameplay definitely has gotten easier over time too, but the graphics between 5th and 6th generation were just too much for me.

    Definitely the graphics yeah. And the different types. "What do you mean Fairy doesn't exist- oooooh."

    Besides that, no mega evolution, and in the earlier gens the fact that Electric types can get paralyzed.

    The biggest shock for me: I was playing Y, decided to play Diamond for a bit since i beat Y. The graphics weren't bad, not good, but okay. I also played gba games some before Y, graphics okay, but not great. Play Pokémon Black and I'm freaking out, "Why does a huge blurry line appear in Pokémon center on the left side?" "Why does this Pokémon have rough looking edges, it's supposed to be smooth?" I go on expecting good graphics after several months or more, and i get that. The graphics got worse! All because they had to add in diagonal. Other than that, i don't have issues. Though, new gens messed me up a little. I was thinking, better not use dark. That'd be bad, eventually i had out my Nuzleaf, figured, all moves are not very effective, may as well get STAB with beat up. It was normally effective. I.was happy, but irritated.

    The biggest thing I have a hard time re-adjusting to is the Special/Physical split. For this reason I find Gen 4 & 5 to be bearable... but before that, it was so annoying like wanting to use a Mightyena but none of its STAB Dark-type moves can take advantage of its higher Attack stat. The elemental punches were nothing more than novelty on Hitmonchan, Gyarados kinda sucked if you put any Water-type moves on it... quite hard to work with ;w;

    There's also the fact that you can't reuse TMs before Gen 5, I've become so used to just teaching everything all the TM moves and thinking "whatever I can reteach that one move whenever I want since it's a TM!" but going back and having to be super careful with most TMs is a little irritating.

    And finally, of course, there's the small movepool thing. Gen 1 & 2 movepools are so incredibly shallow compared to today. I can play through Blue again and have a level 40 Charizard that knows like... Ember, Fire Spin, Slash, and Mega Kick lmao. But since your opponents kind of have crappy moves too, it's not such a big deal.

    One thing to note is that in Gen 1, Special Attack and Special Defense were combined into one stat known as "Special". While playing through Red and moving onto Crystal, it didn't really confuse me because I hadn't focused on my Pokémon's stats. Looking back now, many Pokémon were incredibly powerful because of it.

    I have no real problems going back and re-adjusting to any generation. Since I started with the classics R/B, it comes natural to me that Rhydon has no evolution, or that held items and abilities don't exist.

    If I had to absolutely choose a generation that's most difficult to back to, it would be Gen III, simply for the fact that Gen III was more or less when Pokémon went way downhill and essentially crashed on a public level. Might I add that level grinding was probably the most tedious in this generation. At least with the first two gens, they incorporated a turbo speed feature in the Stadium games. The grinding was still pretty bad in Gen IV, but by V, they had fixed it significantly due to the Lucky Egg.

    I have no problem at all, I can play through old games just fine, probably just because I can remember all the changes xD

    I've actually had some trouble with gens before 4. I was going back and playing through Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness and I realized that crunch lowered special defense. Apparently Gale of Darkness still had moves in physical and special categories by type. That did explain why my epseon's bite did so much and shadow ball did so little, but it confused me greatly for a few moments there. It also made me regret deleting bite for shadow ball. X.X

    Anything within and past gen 4 I am fine with though. Sometimes I'll accidentally use a steel move on an azumarill, but aside from that I don't mind the generational gaps. xD

    It was hard because of the same reason of why the new Generations are easy. The level difference on the Gyms, Exp.Share effect and training methods. So yeah, it is hard if you play ORAS and then you go back to Heart Gold.

    It's been very difficult to back to the DS itself (yes, I might be the only one here who doesn't own a 3DS). I like showdown's layout and community so much that i don't need to go back to playing to have the same fun.

    It's pretty easy for me to play the previous generation games, however the worst part about it for me is the limitations of running shoes, something that speeds me through the game. It's really annoying for me to go through the game so slowly without the running shoes and the fact that sometimes, you couldn't run inside the buildings.

    I can go back and play old gens just fine. It's just that it's weird getting used to all of Gen 1's Mechanics. Like Wrap.....the Special stat, Damage rolls, etc...

    It's not really that hard for me, I never really forgot all the old rules and moves,I Just never properly learned the new ones. So going back is fairly easy (and nostalgically fun)
