If you've watched more than a handful of anime, you've more than likely come across a few disappointing moments in a series, whether it's the entire series itself or a certain arc. It's pretty much inevitable, and sometimes you actually want to force yourself to like it, but you just can't bring yourself to it.
What were these moments for you?

In terms of disappointing series' as a whole, I must say that Musaigen no Phantom World takes the cake. The series itself looked really good, and the first few episodes were enjoyable, but I noticed that after a few episodes (about 4-5), the plot just... didn't exist. I mean, it existed, but with the way the episodes were going, they weren't contributing to the original plot at all. They just seemed like random episodes being put together, and almost none of them had anything to do with the other. I stopped at around episode 6 for my own sake, and I don't really think I want to continue. But one day, I might just watch another 1 or 2 episodes to see if it actually went anywhere after I stopped watching.

Now, if we're to include anime movies, then I can safely say that 5 centimeters per second beats Phantom World in the disappointment department.
Maybe it was just me and my own hype/expectations, but I heard it was a pretty sad movie, and also pretty good overall. I agree - up to the first episode. The entire movie was split into 3 sections (called "episodes"), each about 20 mins long. The first one was good, gave me a slight amount of feels. The second was just... bad, imo. The third was better than the second, but not as good as the first. But overall, everything was moving too slow. And there was also almost no music, or it only played for a small amount of time.

Another disappointing moment in an anime movie would be the ending to Wolf Children. Now, don't get me wrong, I actually really liked that movie. But when comparing the ending bit to the rest of the movie itself, it was just... ehh. I felt like it could've ended in a better spot, or in a different form entirely.

The most recent disappointing in anime has to be the Ace Attorney anime. There is only one major complain I have about it, It was REALLY rushed. I understand that they couldn't make the tutorial case last multiple episodes, but seriously why did they have to make into a rushed walkthrough, giving the viewers no time to think at all. It really breaks the anime into nothing more than a fanservice for the hardcore fans, who just want to see their favorite characters move a little.

I have also seen lot more other disappointing anime, like ChäoS;HEAd, Kekkai Sensen (It's good, but the execution could have been LOT better), and Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace (Good plot, good characters, just god damn rushed). For now, nothing else comes to my mind.

Hmm... I have 3 big ones I can think of.

    1. Charlotte's final episode.

    2. The Town Where Only I Am Missing's final episode

    3. Yoru no Yatterman ending.

Notice the common theme in all of these...

Now, one of the things that sells me on an anime is the ending, the pacing of the ending and how cleanly in wraps things up. The best kind of anime end beautifully, often bittersweet. The key to a good ending is to make something that doesn't feel convoluted or cheap. And that is the problem with two of three of these anime endings.

Charlotte's ending has the worst pacing of anything I've ever seen. Basically it is like a recap episode of a season 2 of the series, which doesn't and never will exist. Some of hte things that happened in the episode just felt like they could have been expanded on so beautifully in a second season... but the last scene in the episode felt so, so contrived. Of course the power is the power of courage, the second cheapest thing next to the power of friendship. Then Yu steals it and the girl still has courage (seriously, courage), but Yuu gets her to run away. And then, after the ending of Zankyou no Terror (which felt out of nowhere af), I expected him to get shot down, something like Breaking Bad where he got his comeuppance for all the awful things he'd done to people to get all these powers, it was something that just felt natural... but he wakes up and the worst thing he has was amnesia... It felt rush and cheap af...

The Town Where Only I Am Missing, Steins;Gate is one of my favourite time travel anything, the consequences of time travel constantly changing things in the future/present. Meanwhile this had no consequences for Satoru's exploits of saving three people's life. One person's life in Steins;Gate changed the entire dynamic of Akihabara, three saved lives and everything goes right for Satoru, the only things are amnesia from being in a coma for so long and Airi's life changed for reasons... The point that really got me was Satoru throwing himself off a building, hoping that what's his face would fall for it and he then surprise surprise everyone is there to make sure Satoru doesn't die... It's just so freaking cheap, cop-out... It legit killed me...

Yoru no Yatterman... It was such a weird show throughout it, there were so many hilarious and what the moments... But it ended overall in a very... very lame fight scene. And the biggest thing was the fight scene was that it was the same 5 second shots over and over, some of them completely out of context from like, 17 minutes prior, he destroyed a building that the characters were still standing on, but they were over the other side of the city... and yea... it was a sour ending to a really bizzare show.

I may get flack for this, but....

::suits up in fire suit in case of flames::

I was a little disappointed in how Serena developed in Pokémon XY. I loved that she had a previous connection to Ash, but I felt they needed to explore that some more beyond initial exposition and the mandatory "are they or aren't they in love?" episode.

The Pokémon Showcase seemed a little tacked on to me, like the writers came up with it at the last second. I also didn't understand why it was just for girls--that gave me the impression that the girls themselves are the prizes.

Really i've probably had dozens of bad experiences with anime I just can't remember currently. Atm all I can think of is the ending of ERASED, Mekakucity actors, and higurashi.

The ending of ERASED was just plain stupid to me. It didn't really "solve" anything too big, like "how did I get these powers?" "What was the teacher's motive" etc

Mekakucity actors was just a huge disappointment in general. I personally was very hyped for it considering its one of my favorite series ever, and was really excited considering shaft was on the project, but it was not good. It was rushed, important plot points were missed, and the ending was horrible.

I really wanted to like the higurashi anime. I really did. I loved the manga(never got a chance to play the VN) and really wanted to see it animated, but I just can't handle the art style. Its too "meh" for me. I tried multiple times to watch it and just never could get past like episode 6. Combined with the fact that the first part isn't that interesting, I think i'll just stick with the manga.

Haganai Season 2's ending of the anime.
It felt like they were finished after the first few episodes.
There was character development "some" and it was a lot funnier than season 1.
But the ending, just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Oh I saw one of my friends with a girl I hate and despise
and I am so detached from reality, any girl is an instant enemy to me and I long the feelings of a special friend, yet he is too dense to notice anything,
like flirting, or girls liking him or GIRLS in general.

I run away from my problems as I always do
and let the entire club down, for my own selfish heartbreak reconciliation.

    DID YOU MEAN:

    Chapter 700 of Naruto :')) ) ) ) )) )

I'm so dissatisfied man but whatever at least it's over now. Albeit the anime (from what I've heard), has been in the filler arcs for months. Naruto will never end
