My first Disgaea game was Disgaea 4. I have 4, D2 and Afternoon of Darkness. I have finished Disgaea 4 a while ago and I played quite a bit into D2, but i have barely touched Afternoon of Darkness.

So far, I think Disgaea 4 has been my favorite so far because, to me, most of the characters are quite likable and I can't decide who is my favorite compared to D2 where my favorite is probably Etna since I don't really like the other characters all that much. But then again, that's just my opinion.

My first disgaea game was the 2nd one for psp but the 1st and 4th must be my favorites. I seem to have at least one version of all the games and now niponichi wants me to buy a ps4 by teasing the new disgaea 5. I like Kilia's fine belly, a treat to the fan girls.

I love these games, even if they can be ridiculously hard sometimes and the damage you can do is off the chart. I have Hour of Darkness, Cursed Memory and Absence of Justice. The first one i tried was Absence of Justice, then i played Hour of Darkness but I've yet to play Cursed Memory despite having it laying for a long time now.

Awesome! My first Disgaea game was D1 Afternoon of Darkness. Ironically I was there since the beginning! Haha. I've played all of them thus far but I haven't started D2 and I didn't complete Disgaea 2.

I can agree! I really liked the main character Mao of D3 but I can't help but find the cast of D4 to be the most lovable. D3 was my favorite on its release, but I think D4 has taken the cake.

Hehe awesome! I played a bit of Disgaea 2 but strangely I just didn't like it as much as the others. We all start somewhere! 4th is the best no doubt LOL, and I agree, I think we have more reasons to get a PS4 now!

Don't forget the hilarious plotline and the insane amount of leveling you can do! Power is everything in the Netherworld

The series is so out there what's not to love? It can be insanely hard but I think its not difficult to ease into it, of course I can only speak for myself because I love tactic games like Disgaea. I haven't started my D2 even if I've had it laying around tbh so we're in the same boat.

Do you guys have a favorite character of all time from the entire series? If so, why do you like them?

2nd game is one of the weaker game in the series but I love what a grim ending you can get
basicly Adell will turn all evil and eat his sliblings. the screen goes dark but you can hear him chew on them if you have the japanese VA on.

and to make things better Mamoru Miyano will be Killia!!! Ahh the fan girl in me is happy! :P

Oh my god that ending! Talk about creepy. NIS is really good at putting some disturbing stuff in their comedy filled games, I know from experience with Hyperdimension Neptunia. Dark and twisted indeed if you play it right. Aaaa MAMORU! I know him from a bunch of different anime like K Project and not to mention the game Kingdom Hearts! Killia you better live up to our expectations now~ I love it when NIS makes their characters total weirdos.

NIS have made some brilliant games. some better than others. oh the demon path in soul nomad was pretty dark.

Kilia's tummy already lives up to my expectations, but now will his character do too?

I love Soul Nomad's demon path so much. Gig I will never not love youuu he's my best DLC in D4.

Hehe I really like his design! I know NIS doesn't like to go the generic hero route, and even if they do I know they'll give him some sort of weird kink like they always do. Still D4 is pretty hard to beat for me, I really loved the characters in that one.

I got a mighty need of that character, alas I have to save money so I never bought him. Gig is perfect

we already got a character in D5 who goes berserk if she doesn't get her curry. so I'm sure there will be some sort of twist with the rest too

I would totally buy the little jerk for you if I could. >w> Heck, I would buy 500 Gigs. He's great and always tends to wreck the battlefield, his attack stat is unbelievably OP, and because he's a monster-type of course you can turn him into the Onyx Blade, and that can be absolutely devastating to the opponent. Hehee well I'm sure we all get really mad over food LOL Can't wait to hear about the rest of the new cast, till then I'll be playing D4 again on my PS Vita. I really hope NIS let's us transfer DLCs...

seeing as how DLC usually are way to milk money from us then they surely won't be transferred. In many sense I would be disappointed if Gig weren't OP, his whole character is built on this OP thing. I tried to grind a bit today and reincarnate my characters a few times to get better abilities so I some day can get bet that Axel fan girl army. How can that loser be so strong?

I hate to say it but I think you're right on that one. I guess I'll have my fingers crossed until they release more info on the portable DLCs. But even if they do put them up for purchase instead, I'm a sucker for NIS and I'll save up and buy them again. Haha, well you wouldn't be disappointed, he tears up the battlefield and he quickly rose in levels and now stands atop my party at level 612, gdi Gig, Valzy was the one leading! LOL Little monster he is.

Reincarnating is plenty useful, and Axel? His stats are strange, he's really a mixed bag. He can be really strong, I just can't seem to figure out his strengths and weaknesses. We may never figure out the great and powerful (loser) Axel!

I only played part of the first Disgaea on that re-release/demake they made for DS. And I really liked it. The complexity (of which it has a LOT) is both it's best and most off-putting feature. It's the best feature because I love it and it literally makes the game. And it's off-putting because I get too immersed in it. I only did like two or three story quests before going into the item world and spending hours upon hours there. I had a little notebook to work out geo chain reactions and to keep track of specialists on my items, and the pupil/master system (So I could chain abilities).
And then it became overwhelming because I never took it lightly, then my focus shifted to a different game and slowly I stopped playing it. It happens.

...But I should definitely pick it up again.
