I myself am not not bothered by this as long as it's still readable (mainly because I'm dyslexic and my brain doesn't really like correct spelling.) But its interesting to see that it bugs some people quite a bit. And understandably so.

It doesn't bother me unless I absolutely cannot make out what someone is trying to say.

With roleplays, I'm a bit more strict, but as long as spelling and grammar is decent I'm cool.

Ohhhh yes. I was a Nazi today, in fact. I saw something up on the board in class, and in the middle of a lesson, I stood up and began writing on the board, X'ing out the wrong grammar and correcting it, then explaining why. I then sat down without another word.

No, and people who go out of their way to correct people all the time bother me a lot. There is little more patronizing than getting corrected on your grammar by some one else. It doesn't even help you learn - it just makes you want to learn less due to the irritation caused by the person constantly correcting you.

I like good, and bad grammar. Though I do think it's odd to go out of your way on a forum to have bad grammar or something.

In Dutch (my main language), I probably won't even notice a grammar error. I hate to say it, but I suck at my own language, and make a lot of grammar mistakes myself. Luckily, I'm much better at English, but still, I don't mind an error. As long as I can understand what the person is trying to tell me, I'm fine :)

Lol, it doesn't matter to me at all. Spelling is spelling, and everyone makes mistakes sometimes. As long as I can read it, I guess its fine. Though, I don't mind a story where I cant understand a thing that is being said xD

No not really unless I have to sit with a coding machine to try translate what someone have typed up. I am stricter when it comes to role-plays but I don't except it to be perfect.

It really doesn't matter unless it's completely not understandable. Honestly, I have trouble speaking in English in general, so speeling isn't my forte either, so don't worry!

I don't expect people to be perfect, and an occasional error is fine, but things that supremely bug me are:

    Wrong capitalization

    Dialogue ending without a comma

Sentences and phrases that are missing a word or 3

Numerous spelling errors within a short span.

With just a few errors I have no problems dealing with. But I have stopped reading stories before because my grammar Nazi brain cannot stand the errors.

^^^^ This. Plus, if I know the person is old enough and doesn't have any kind of disability that would cause them to make those mistakes, it's just laziness, and that annoys me too. Especially when they know they're doing it and don't care. And I absolutely HATE it when people type in all text speak constantly. If you're fooling around and using it every so often, it's fine, but if you carry on whole serious conversations...really?! You went to school for a reason, use what you learned! It makes me want to bang my head (or the person's) against something multiple times.

Usually even if it annoys the ever living shit out of me, I won't speak up unless I'm in a bad mood and don't want to tolerate it. I just rage in my head most of the time. xD

I agree, according to a study my English teacher brought up today the human brain can understand any word as long as the first and last letter are correct. My biggest problem is when you mispell a word and it becomes an other word, completely changing the sentance. But I'm guilty of that too xD

Usually I just laugh at silly mistakes and to those who keep correcting them. I mostly hate people who can't find the difference between the simplest words such as "your" and "you're" like omg your old enough to know that /endsarcasm other grammar/mistakes I hate are their/they're/there etc. But words like absence/foreign, etc. i'm okay with as long as if you read it it makes sense.

    Yes. Horribly.

That said, I try to correct others' mistakes in such a way that they learn from them. I'll usually point out the error and try to explain it as best I can. However, a few errors (misuse of 'it's' in particular) will drive me up a wall. I'm not sure why.

Well, I edit shitfics on another site so if I had a hernia every time I hit a grammar issue I'd be dead. I don't mind them in conversations, but in fanfictions or other works where the idea is to communicate ideas effectively and with quality, then I mind. If you can't be bothered to take the time to give your idea the respect it deserves through editing, I can't be bothered to read it. That's just what I think, though.

I wholeheartedly agree with these responses.

Unless it is a professional post, such as Rules or a Guide (or literature-esque such as Roleplays or Fanfiction), I won't care all that much - that is, as long as I can read it alright. If someone uses the wrong "your", for example, I'm not going to fret. And "grammar nazis" are personally a huge pet peeve to me - no offense to anyone who does that of course, but it drives me insane when people go out of their way to correct me (or others) on slight grammatical errors. Especially since I probably already knew it wasn't the best grammar, but I'm not trying to write an essay, I'm just sharing words on a forum, chatting with friends, etc. (it's a different story of course if someone is correcting a mistake in a Guide or Rules or something, as I believe those are more important to communicate clearly, and should be laid out as clean as possible.)

Edit: Right, should also mention that in instant messaging (like on skype), my grammar often goes down the toilet, lol. So I don't expect anything more from others.
