Some people prefer battle effects off for matters of speed, while others keep them on for a more engaging experience; others swap around depending on the situation. What about you? Do you keep battle effects on or off when playing? Be sure to go into a little detail and give reasoning!

I always keep them on, unless I am level grinding. I try to appreciate the battle animations as much as possible. They're getting greater & greater in detail as the gens progress.

I've always kept them on. Until last year I didn't even know you could turn them off, haha.

Battle effects... is that the animation of the moves? Plus the sound? If so, I keep them on. I always like seeing move animations, even ones that are long and detailed such as Bolt Strike, Blue Flare, Geomancy and such. It also makes battles more enhanced, and it truly feels like Pokémon battling each other!

If I'm EV/Level training, heck no.
If I'm running through a game again, probably not.
Ain't nobody got time for that -- I'm trying to get through this stuff quickly and save as much battery as possible.

But... I do enjoy the battle animations for anything besides that. Gives you that vibe, you know? :D

I used to not have battle animations on because I found them to make things slower. But nowadays I have them on again, and the only time I really keep them off is when i'm training my team up.

I keep them off mostly when replaying games or during the post-game period. Once I've beaten the story I like to go through things faster since I'm more focused on leveling up Pokémon as well as filling the dex.. so the animations aren't all that necessary. During that first playthrough of a new game though, I keep them on since things feel much more alive that way. Pretty!

I personally never turn off the animations no matter what. To me, what's the point of playing if you cant appreciate everything the game has to offer.

I do during my in-game adventure my post-game I usually turn them off because I train things to Lv. 50 to use in battle quite often, not to mention EV training.

I keep battle effects on at all times. I like seeing my Pokémon dish out its devastating moves upon my opponents and watch them, for instance, burn in agony by my Typhlosion's powerful Flamethrower muahahaha. It's all part of the battling experience. I even keep them on while training my team.

I've never turned them off. I love the animation for the moves, especially Draco Meteor.

They're always on unless I'm doing grinding or EV training. They're just not practical for efficient grinding, even if they're pretty.

I keep them on, I like the effects of some moves, like Retaliate.
Never really thought to turn them off...

I always keep Battle Effects on, it's weird to have them off! Even when I'm level grinding, I tend to leave them on. It just looks weird to me to have a Pokémon attack and nothing happens graphically.

Although they are annoying, it's not the same without them off. I can't take them off.

I almost always leave them on, even when I'm actively grinding. Only when I'm really doing something else, and repeatedly running around and mashing A forever, I might turn them off, but I usually just forget it xD

I've always kept them on until now in my Omega Ruby, where I'm doing nothing but grinding and EV training. Otherwise I like the animations too much to turn them off.

There was a time, very early in when I first started playing the Pokémon games (with Yellow), I had the battle animations turned off. I didn't really like that, with the animations turned off, I didn't know what any attacks really entailed, so I switched animations back on, and kept it that way with all the later games I've played.
Being able to see the animation of a move being carried out gives me a bit of an idea as to how serious the attack could be.
