A lot of artists keep their old art from when they were kids to their most recent art. Do you guys have any of your old art? Do you keep it or do you throw it away after a while? I had a bad habit in middle school of throwing away my sketchbooks when I was finished with them. So I only have the few pieces my mom saved from when I was little.
I have a few from when I was young, then a lot from grade-highschool, and all of my recent stuff. One of my youngest bits of art is a poster that reads 'I am still drawing'. It's held a lot of sentimental feelings for me, and has boosted my self esteem at times- I hope to laminate the paper and hang it some day before I accidentally tear it (it's a thin paper).
I keep my old art, if I can find it. I have a binder full of old drawings in looseleaf but I feel like throwing them away as they are not my best works XD
My grandma has some of my art from when I was a kid. I have no idea where most of it is, though. I'm not that good at keeping track of stuff.
of course i keep all my old art because i hide it away and then i cant find it for the life of me at least traditionally lol.. on my computer i just made a file for my old art because i just cant delete old art?? its like seeing a part of you die almost...... if you get rid of something you learned from theres nothing to learn from....... this goes for my writings as well lmao i really wish i kept that shitty fanfic i wrote when i was 12 but alas that being said if any of yalls delete your old art i am legally obliged to fight you in the 7/11 parking lot because you never grow from destroying the past!! it hurts to look at but you gotta save that old stuff!
I tend to keep most of the art that I've done over the years. Although I hesitate to actually pull any of it out since I've never exactly been a good artist.
I like to keep my old art, even if it does make me cringe looking at iy. I have a folder of stuff I drew a from the ages of about 3-8. Then I have a folder filled with all my old fakemon, and a USB full of a lot of my original digital drawings.
I have some old things from when I was 14-16 can't remember the exact dates, I just know that I made one greyscale piece while I was in chem, whoops. I have found myself fairly happy with the progress that I have made since then.
I don't think I have any left from when I was a little kid but I should have a sketch book somewhere from my teen years, is just full of dragons tho, some are half traced since I was still learning there.
regrettably yes I have literally every piece of art I've done since middle school still around. I don't take it out that often but when I do it's to compare my art from then VS now to see how much I've improved!! Also it gives me a good laugh because at one point I thought this was the best thing I've ever drawn lmao
I have some old art! I have a box and in that box is about 13 sketch books from early highschool when I started being more serious about my characters. It's so cringy to see them now but it's also a little bit of a boost to see how much I've grown.
I have various folders in my room that has some of the old art that I like in them based on different stories I made when I was younger. I also have a sketchbook from years ago that I've been through once to show how I've improved. In another few years, I'll go through it again and redraw the pictures and then continue a few years after that.
Old art is such a treasure! I didn't draw all that much when I was little (aside from making cards for relatives), so what little art I can find from then is kept safe in a folder. There's a lot of cringy stuff in there, but I could never bring myself to throw it out.
I've definitely kept my older sketchbooks. I like to look back and see how I've improved. And who knows, sometimes maybe I'll go back and redraw my OCs/humanized Pokémon that I drew back then, because some of their anatomy...yeah, I did not know how to draw humans back then.
I still have a bunch of older sketchbooks, including a few from when I was younger. Those I won't touch by now. But any of my newer older stuff? Unless I really like the idea or unless it was really far along, then it runs a good chance of getting tossed. I don't have the space to be keeping everything.
I hide that stuff, except for a few good pieces. And one terrible comic I made when I was younger inspired a new series that's in the making. In writing this time.
