Seems like those who do and don't are split about 50:50 nowadays, or at least in the group of people that I know. Do you leave your computer/laptop on overnight or do you shut it off? What is your reasoning for doing so? Don't want to wait for it to turn on or are you like me and have a hard time sleeping unless all the computers in the house are off?

I would, definitely, if I could... But I somehow managed to delete the sleep mode from my computer (I have no idea how that is possible), so I can't put it in sleep mode anymore -_- I'm not going to leave it fully on all night, so I have to turn it off... I would always put my laptop in sleep mode though!

No. The fans are far too loud for me to sleep through most of the time, and it glows brightly enough to light up half my room. I like my computer, but it's an absolute monster that makes sleep impossible.

Plus, it may or may not be sentient, so I really don't trust it.

I normally leave my laptop in sleep mode when I sleep lol. I find it much more convenient to wake up the next day, open the lid, and have my laptop running and ready for use without waiting for it to start up, although Mac's startup times are relatively shorter than that of Windows. It's just habit, more or less.

I leave my laptop in sleep mode all night. It takes to long too start up so its easier this way.

I turn both my laptops off. My chromebook doesn't take long at all to start up anyway, and it would probably be convenient to just leave my other laptop in sleep mode, but I prefer just turning it off haha.

    No. Nonononononononononononono. No.

Definitely not. I have bad experiences with letting technology running longer than needed (seriously, I still have no idea how I managed to break a microwave, a toaster, and my DS while they were working (thankfully not at the same time)), so I always shut off my laptop when I'm heading in for the night. I could probably leave it on, since it barely makes any noise in sleep mode and it'll be plugged into the wall, but I seriously don't want to tempt fate again. Plus it doesn't take very long at all to start it up.

I always turn mine off just to be safe. I don't want to over heat it or anything. Plus since it's a Mac it starts up quick so makes no difference to me.

I leave mine on mainly because it's just easier for me to just pick up where I left off the night before.

I'll only leave my computer on overnight if I'm downloading something (generally an update for an mmo). Otherwise, I'll shut the laptop.

I just close my laptop whenever I'm not using it, I don't really ever turn it off. So I leave it on sleep mode when I go to sleep.
It takes less than a minute to start up and it let's me continue where I left off last time.

Considering it takes about ten seconds for it to be fully loaded and have all my programs open and ready, no. I don't ever leave it on when I'm awake unless I've fallen asleep by accident.

Most of the time, I put my laptop into hibernate at night, and shut down any other machines that I have running. Sometimes, however, especially if I'm accessing my laptop remotely from my bedroom media center, I may forget to shut down/hibernate the laptop (I usually do this remotely, by accessing the remote machine via VNC.)

I turn off my laptop overnight. If I just close it and/or leave it in Sleep mode for too long, like over 7 hours, it will freak out when I open it back up, like freeze up and whatnot. Plus, turning it off conserves battery. So overall a better choice to just shut it off and let it rest every night, heh.

Mine goes into hibernation. The ol' girl's battery can no longer last more than a few hours in sleep mode before 'waking up' and then dying.

I'm too lazy to shut both of mine down, plus I'd rather not have to boot my Mac up each time for classes. Thus, I keep them in sleep mode.

It's a habbit but yeah I have my laptop go into sleep mode before I go to sleep. I tend to leave everything open so I can go back to it the next day. I normally would shut down my laptop but it takes forever to log onto my computer at times so I tend to leave it open.

    Monday - Saturday: Sleep Mode
    Sunday: Turned Off Completely

A while back, my laptop starting going crazy after I left it on for around a week or so. Now it's become a habit for me to turn it off every Sunday to avoid another situation like that.

Windows 8 doesn't take too too long to start up, so I'm okay with this. In fact, I should probably start turning off my computer daily, but nah, it'd be too hard to break an old habit.
