Simple enough question, do you nickname your Pokémon? If so, what kinds of names do you give to your Pokémon? Favorite nickname you've given?

First time I played Pokémon White I nicknamed all the Pokémon I caught, which more than likely explains why I can't name most of 'em off my heart. One of my favourite Nicknames I used was Porunga for Carracosta, which if you get the reference is not fitting at all, hah.

Other favourites I've used from time to time included Tundra (Aggron), Monster (Swampert), Shadow (Scyther, looo-ong story), Biggs (Feraligatr) and Obelisk, Silfer and Ra, for Kyogre, Rayquaza and Groudon respectfully.

I nickname all my Pokémon unless they are strictly for breeding purposes. My competitive teams I put more effort into naming. I usually nickname just Pokédex pokes random common names, like Erica or something.

My favorite nickname is Mr Twinkle, who is a Pinsir. And Bro Bee, my shiny male Combee.

I nicknamed my playthrough Pokémon (usually in postgame) and almost all my competitive Pokémon

My nicknames are usually references or just silly things.

I only nickname the Pokémon I use, and actually care about. Sometimes, like in my fanfiction, I just think of random names that make to sense at all xD But some of my favorites are:

    Serenity - Gardevoir
    Aphrodite - Milotic
    Destiny - Absol

    Indeed I do.

But not right away, because I want the nickname to fit.

I love to name my pokemons! it makes them so much more personal. in my soulsilver game I went with a mythology theme party when it came to names, my Typlosion was named Muspelheim. more recently I had a wonderful pikachu named ms. gaga sadly he didn't make it to the 2nd playthrough )':
I always name my woopers after a friend who awoken my life for woopers.

I nickname my Pokémon, mostly cause it gives them a personality. My favorite nickname so far is Storn, who is a Staraptor. No clue where the name came from, it just sort of happened. Other favorites are Troll bird the Ho-oh from my LG randomized Nuzlocke run, Ranshi my shiny Houndoom, and GLOVES my battling Greninja.

Since I don't really pay attention to the competitive scene on the cartridge, I only nickname the Pokémon that I use on my in-game team. Usually they're either references to video games or movies, but sometimes it's just some random thing that pops into my mind.

    Personal favorites?
    Axel (Arcanine)
    Nazrin (Raichu)
    Minuit (Umbreon)
    Alonso (Serperior)

But I'll always associate the name Ariel with Flygon, because a friend of mine with that name did a drawing of one. (I remember the strangest things...)

I always nickname my Pokémon. I usually nickname them after TV shows. Like Franklin the Torterra. xD

Doesn't anyone remember Franklin the turtle?

Oh I always always always name my Pokémon. Seeing an unnamed Pokémon in my boxes just drives me insane. xD

    Among my favorites are:

    Applebee the Meganium
Dirge, Jazz, and Bebop (My Sp. Sweeper, Scrappy, and Physical Sweeper Explouds, respectively)
    Lyric the Noivern
    Cordylia the Parasect
    Sherlock the Beheeyem
Aldonté the Lopunny (I honestly have no clue where this name came from, but I love it.)

I nickname half my Pokémon. I would nickname all of them except that I'm not very good at coming up with good ones. Usually my names are video game references but I have done some other random things as well like Support the Gothitelle which is an inside joke.

I usually don't nickname things unless I'm doing a playthrough with my friend, RedScizor. In these situations, we nickname each other's Pokémon.

One of my favorite nicknames was one he came up with. During our Black/White playthrough, we decided to name the respective legendary as well. He chose the name "DooPliss" for my Zekrom (a reference to Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, in case you didn't know), and I still have it sitting in my PC in X.

I only nickname the Pokémon I will actually use. I usually name my Pokémon after anime references. One of my favs is Wall Maria (Rhyperior).

I always nickname my Pokémon since HG. Generally if I'm going to use the Pokémon I put a bit of thought into the name, but if it is Pokédex filler I'll just give it some dumb nickname.

I think my favourite nickname I've given a Pokémon is a tie between my Aegislash in Y and my Metagross on Showdown.

Aegislash named Sachi. Sachi is my favourite character ever, even if she is just a side character, plus she has a sword and shield as a weapon.

Metagross I like because of my dumb reasoning behind naming him Herobrine. Metagross is Steven Stone's main Pokémon with a Mega in the next games. Steven is very close to Steve. Steve is the player character from Minecraft. Herobrine is a Minecraft Creepypasta.

I only started nicknaming my Pokémon when I tried to challenge myself to a Nuzlocke run. (failed miserably). However, nicknaming Pokémon was fun!
Some of my favourites are :
Tavros (Tauros in HeartGold. The reference is obvious)
Magqua (Swampert in Emerald, made that up, mix between Magma and Aqua)
Voltaire (Manectric in my Emerald game)
Dalma (Quagsire in HeartGold. Referencing Tia Dalma from Pirates of the caribbean)

I recall myself nicknaming my Pokémon team on Emerald and I would say that those nicknames are pretty ridiculous. I wasn't really creative at nicknames that time.

Swampert : I named this one Kip until it became a Swampert; I admit it doesn't fit anymore. I removed the Mud from Mudkip.

Kirlia : Okay, I didn't have the sufficient time to evolve Kirlia because I was busy. I named her Bangs, my brother suggested it.

Seviper : I named her Sunny and my brother keeps bothering me about that nickname. Here's my ridiculous theory on why I nicknamed her 'Sunny'; I caught her in a hot and sunny day... Bear with me.

Altaria : I nicknamed her Cotton because her wings look like fluffy cottons. Huh.

I knew I was being irrational with these nicknames.

I nickname some Pokémon, and others I don't.
It's usually the ones that I use in my team and any Pokémon I don't leave in a box for eternity after catching them. :P
I usually like to come up with a nickname that serves as a real name, by replacing letters in words, scrambling them, and getting rid of letters.
I do this in my fanficitons as well. I end up getting something like "Esreis," for Espeon. In fact, Esreis is a character I'm using in a roleplay with Aeon's Shadow at the moment.
