Especially in light of the recent 50th Anniversary Special (HOLY BALLS, THAT ENDING SCENE), I can't believe this show doesn't have a thread yet.

Right then; there've been...more than a few Doctors. Anyone who thinks the series started with Tennant or Smith can go tick off a Raston Warrior Robot.

William Hartnell - The first. Even I haven't seen much of this guy's material.
Patrick Troughton - The second. Quirky, kinda morbid really. He had some humor to him, but he was considerably drier than most.
John Pertwee - The third. From what I've seen, he started taking the Doctor in a lighter direction.
Tom Baker - The fourth. If you haven't at least HEARD of him, you've missed out.
Peter Davison - The fifth. He wasn't bad, but coming after Baker...
Colin Baker - The sixth. No relation.
Sylvester McCoy - The seventh. Presently Radagast the Brown as well.

Paul McGann - The eighth. He had a movie. It...wasn't bad. It was odd.

Christopher Eccleston - The ninth. Started off the new series; did a decent job, incredibly cranky/angry in hindsight though.
David Tennant - The tenth. Best Doctor since Tom Baker. Easily. We didn't want him to go :(
Matt Smith - The eleventh. I swear they're getting younger...

John Hurt - The...actually I'm pretty sure he's an older eighth Doctor or something.

Peter Cushing - We pretend this "Doctor" doesn't exist, thank you very much.

Favorite Doctors? Favorite episodes? Do you wear scarves, celery, or bowties? Discuss!

    (And have a jelly baby.)

I really like this show because of the mysteries coiled inside and the thinking you need to digest it. :) Since I've only seen the 9th, 10th, and 11th doctor, I can't really say which one's my favorite.

I've only recently gotten into the Doctor Who series, I've seen a few of the tenth doctor episodes and the 50th anniversary special but I have a lot of catching up to do.

Favorite show on the planet. I'm an authentic British whovian guy too! I've been watching since 2006 and my first ever episode was Rise of Steel. I've watched all of the new series episodes, a lot of classic episodes (At least one for each Doctor) and I don't plan on losing interest any time. It's a really great show and it gives me great thrill when they release new episodes. Excited to see how Peter Capaldi's Doctor plays out next year.

Please tell me you've seen City of Death :3 (4th Doctor, and one of the better episodes.)

There's a theory out there that ever since the Time War, the Doctor's been trying to look younger so he can fall into some sort of distraction (going from Hurt to Eccleston to Tennant to Smith), and with the events of Day of the Doctor being what they are, he's going to stop trying to hard (hence Capaldi being visibly older than 10, or 11, possibly 9). Thoughts on that one?

I think that's possible. He's been trying to hide how he feels, because if he looked back he would hate himself. So that's why he acts like an idiot, jumping around like an excited puppy. I think they will go for a lot darker Doctor with Capaldi, but I hope that he will have some fun in him. Doesn't make sense if he's angry all the time due to the events in Day of the Doctor. Unless something else happens to make him angry/upset.

Well he's played the eccentric fool for years now; long before the Time War certainly. I was looking more at the fact that he's had a considerably more overt tendency in recent years to become romantically involved with his human companions (see; looking for a distraction) and he's regenerated into a progressively younger form since the War.

As for the angry Doctor, I think Eccleston about nailed that one (especially in hindsight).

As to Capaldi; I hope he can keep a balance. I don't want him to be an excited puppy 24/7, but I'd rather he not come anywhere close to Batman levels of brooding. DOTD pretty much set up an entire "Quest for Gallifrey" arc, so I'm hoping there's some eagerness/enthusiasm for the whole thing on his part.

I LOVE Doctor Who. Day of the Doctor made me cry. I only started watching a few years ago but I started with Nine. I love Eccleston, he and Tennant are my favorite Doctors.

See, I enjoyed Eccleston during his tenure, but...I dunno. After Tennant took over, Eccleston just seemed so angry by comparison :(

    If...I had to rank Doctors that I've seen any substantial amount of;

    4th
    10th
    9th
    5th
    8th
*every other number in various order*
    Peter Cushing

I've not seen that much of 11, only one episode of the 7th, absolutely nothing of the 6th, and maybe a couple episodes of 1-3.

Even though I haven't watched much of the series, I already like Matt Smith. I'm definitely going to watch tonight.

Plus, I get to see the Weeping Angels for the first time.

    Remember not to BLINK!

Saw the special earlier guys....and I have to say I'm a bit torn about. Certainly, I enjoyed the Day Of The Doctor more. That being said, the special, in its sometimes own subtle ways resolves some long running mysteries about Matt's run (nearly missed The Silence's mystery being resolved) and wow does that "Oldest Question In The Universe", "The Question That Must Never Be Spoken" turn out to have some meat on its hypothetical bones.

Some stuff that occurs kinda looses me after it gets repeated for like the second time onwards, but I loved Capaldi's eagerly awaited entrance. It was a lot more subdued than Tenant's send-off, that's for sure!

I don't have cable so I'll be watching it online later in the week when I'm emotionally prepared. Already seen GIFs of it on tumblr though hahaha.

The episode was a feel destroyer, and I'm not even a Matt fanatic. Ol' Eight-er, McGann, is my Doc.

Welp, time for the long wait, everyone. Capaldi's run doesn't kick off until Fall '14.

    KIDNEYS!

Thrilling episode, I'm not a huge fan of how Capaldi sneezed his way in but it was a great send off for Matt, that's for sure.

As I keep saying, I haven't watched much of it. When he said that the tenth doctor regenerated into himself, was he talking after counting the war doctor or not?

My cousin kept saying that Weeping Angels were scary as hell, but they didn't scare me that muc... OH GOD, I JUST BLINKED!!!! And now I get why the word pond was so important when in The Snowmen, Clara says pond for the one word test... sort of. I have a lot of catching up to do.

No, he talked about the tenth doc using up an additional life. I think he got zapped by a dalek and rather than change into matt he used the regeneration to heal himself but vented the rest of that power 'elsewhere', hence eleven's 'vanity' joke. That's without giving too much away. The episode in which this thing happens is bizaare in a funny way.

I'm perplexed as to why they were even in the special. I get that they're really an eleven villain but they had a very minor part in it. Still, the dramatic effect caused by their inclusion is nonetheless impressive
