Before it got sold, Donkey Kong was an immensely fun game. It produced 4 great games (imo): Donkey Kong Country, DKC 2, DKC3, and DK64. I enjoyed all of these games immensely as a child before it went out for a while.

When Donkey Kong Country Returns came out... I was more than disappointed. Did you ever play the SNES and N64 Donkey Kong games? Do you wish that they were still made by the original creator? Talk to me, people.

I am not a very active player of the franchise, yet I have DK Tropical Freeze (if fact, you can find it on glyde.com today! ;D). It looked cool when I saw it at first, but I got bored of it quickly. I've played the retro version at arcades, but it's always been too hard for me to grasp, haha.

DK games were gold when Rare was around working on them. I think Retro (the developers who replaced Rare) are doing a fine job with the most recent DKCR games. If it's one thing about Retro though, it's that they like recycling the same ideas and gimmicks a bit too frequently. Rare was more creative in that department.
That said, I'd LOVE to see another 3D DK game like DK64. I don't see why they're not doing it, it's been over 15 years.

Ah, David Wise makes the best music for the Donkey Kong games; like, have you guys played Tropical Freeze?

Oh. My gooods, the music there was fantastic, and the overall gameplay wasn't bad, but the music in the game really enhances the overall experience, you know? Ah, I've also played DK1, and DK2 for the SNES, as well as Donkey Kong 64 and Donkey Kong Country returns - DK2 and DK64 are like the two of my top Donkey Kong Country games, as well as Tropical Freeze. :3
