Does anyone remember much about this glitch? Basically you could duplicate Pokémon using the PC box, can't remember how it worked but it was pretty interesting. Did you ever do it?

As far as I know it was for Gen 2 only. I did it frequently with my friends and is how I was able to get Celebi and complete my Gold Pokédex. My friend got one, somehow, and duplicated it for me. As I remember, it worked due to how the game changed boxes. It required a save every time you did. What I forget is where exactly the Pokémon you wanted to duplicate had to be, either to be put in a box or perhaps moved into your party from a box, but what I do remember is that you had to go to switch your box and turn off your game during the saving process it required, when it said "DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR GAME". It didn't always work, but most of the time it seemed to. It would also duplicate any held item on the Pokémon, which obviously was very handy back then.

I used the method Dioma mentioned, but I can only remember using it with my friends to duplicate our starters!
On my old Gold cartridge I had Maganium, Typhlosion and Feraligatr! sadly I lost that copy of Gold :(
I know there's an other method in Pokémon Emerald! but I never really used that one...

Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember when I was trading with my friend, we managed to duplicate Pokes using the old link cable. I think I duplicated my Feraligatr and he, his Ho-Oh.

Yeah I think you could do it that way too, does sound familiar. It has to do with the moving of a Pokémon from one place to another and cutting off halway through anyway. That's the main thing. The game will have the data stored twice as a result, once in each location.

Yes! That was it! The cutting off part. Man we had some fun times. Can't remember if we used it with G/S, with 2 Crystals, or a mix of both. Almost sure it was G/S.

I was never able to successfully accomplish this glitch. But I also never really had that much oomph to really keep trying to master it. My friend though, did it a ton. So I was able to get a ton of Pokémon from him. :)

I know the old games it has something to do with turning the game off while in mid-save or something. I don't remember

I did it in Gen II. IIRC, you had to put the Pokémon that you wanted to clone in a box, change the box, and while it was saying "SAVING... PLEASE DO NOT TURN OFF THE POWER" you turned off the power. Apparently that confused the game as to whether the Pokémon was in your party or the box, and to be on the safe side it put it in both.

Abusing this glitch was how I completed the Pokédex for the first time in Gold. I could trade for ANYTHING with an infinite supply of Mews with Masterballs to offer in exchange.

I used the Pokémon box cloning glitch a lot in G/S, not only to clone rare and one-of-a-kind Pokémon (including those I had to trade over via Time Capsule), but also certain rare items that I would attach to certain Pokémon for cloning. I first read about this (and several other glitches, primarily in R/B) in some gaming magazine (probably a Pokémon-based one.) Believe me, the task was pretty tedious to accomplish, too-you had to know the exact moment to turn off your Game Boy Color in order for the glitch to work successfully.

The only time I duplicated Pokémon was in Emerald.

GSC though, I abused the heck out of the infinite starter glitch.

I never used it but I bet I would have if I had grown up with those games instead of Gen 3. I used Emerald's duplication glitch a lot after all.

I used this glitch to clone my Espeon in GSC for my brother because he really wanted one, so I cloned it and traded it to him.

Yes I do, I remember abusing it a lot, but stopped when I was suggested that it was rather cheap because I could clone things like Rare Candies and just make everything easier. It was interesting nonetheless, but after a while it kinda killed the uniqueness of the Pokémon.

As much as I hate saying, but it was one thing I loved doing, cloning them rare candies. And with that, multiple Pokémon with the same things lol. I'm glad they covered it up so it couldn't be done anymore really, idk why you would duplicate anymore, I'd call it hacking in a way nowadays.

I never used this glitch, because I played these games on an emulator, allowing me to cheat as much as I want xD Although lately, I've been getting more into the world of glitching, so maybe I'll try this out sometime!
