    What is Erah?

Erah is a 2D fantasy roleplaying game and also may be considered a work of art. Our goal was, besides implementing numerous, unique innovations, was to create a balanced gaming experience that as many kinds of players can enjoy as possible. So elements from both western and eastern videogaming can be found in our game, which many different types of players may enjoy.

The game takes us to the world of Erah, and through several graspable characters, an immersive story, classic and new roleplay elements leads us to one final conclusion. A conclusion you have the power to change as you learn about the Guardians, the mystical 'living relics', the long forgotten Archs, and as the decisions you make throughout the game each steer you onto a different path. Replayability is immense, for each time you play a story, you have the option to take a different route, which includes a varying set of characters and quests.

Two separate systems make up the game's main structure: a turn based tactical battle system and a levelling system where you can fully customize the development of your character. Also, you can craft unique items from the ancient technologies that you come across, or you may choose to pursue Guardians. Furthermore, the characters available for you to recruit to your party are all different, and each of them has an impact on the story itself. Daytime and night time also play a part, as you will experience encounters and events that only occur in a given part of a day.

You have the option to set difficulty as well, as the game offers settings suitable for both casual and hardcore players. For instance, Story mode allows you to play through the main story without any extraordinary hardships, while Legendary mode will challenge even to the most fanatic of players. All in all, the game will include 4 levels so can find the one that suits you best.

Erah is a living and breathing world that lies there, waiting for you to explore it.

    F.A.Q.

If you cannot find the answer for your question, feel free to ask! However, these questions were asked so much that I think it's time to collect them. It's easier for you too to check out one post instead of a whole forum.

Q: Where can I download the game?
A: I'm glad you are interested in our project, however, the game is still in development. Feel free to share your suggestions, thought.

Q: How much the game will cost?
A: It will be downloadable free of charge, just like all of its future updates and downloadable contents.

Q: What platforms will the game be released?
A: It's currently developed on PC, however, we're considering the release of other versions too. We are aware that you requested the Android version: we will do our best to do it as soon as possible.

Q: What are you using to create the game?
A: I'm using RPG Maker VX Ace

Q: ...so does that mean that you're just writing the story and that's all?
A: No way! Even though we are using a Game Maker software, the scripts of it are totally rewritten, and we are trying to add as much custom things as possible. The soundtrack will be totally original, and we are also trying to do custom graphics for the characters too. We're using this software because of budget limitations.

Q: Where can I check out [insert random resource]
A: Check out the links in the description. All the background stories, soundtracks, and so on, will be available too. They are updated frequently.

Q: Are you looking for beta testers/moderators/developer/etc. ?
A: We will announce it on our website if we're looking for a new team member, but at the moment, the team is complete and we are doing our best job with the beta testers to create the game as good as possible.

Q: What status is the game in currently?
A: We are currently doing the alpha testing of the game. This means we already have some story elements, characters, and so on scripted, however, it's still not complete, but the main features are done and working.

Q: Is this game for hardcore or casual gamers?
A: Both! We realized during the testing that there are players with different gaming habits and they find different things fun. There are players who are looking for extreme challenges, others are looking for balance (story with challenge), while others are only interested in the story of the game. We will offer 4 different difficulties, all based on these habits.

Buttt, may I ask, what did you use to make this? :o

Thank you so much for the feedback, SushiCake! Yes, I wanted to create a world where your decisions will have a huge impact, not only in your life, but in the other people's life (who you meet, and the eras after your own story) too. I use RPG Maker VX Ace, but it is heavily modified (graphic-wise) and most of the scripts are totally re-written almost from zero.

No, it's still work in progress. I'll release a test/demo version soon(er or later). It's currently planned only on PC (the group will have its own website for the game soon), but I also consider releasing it to other platforms, like android. Oh, and it will be totally free of charge to download: not only the basic game, but all of its downloadable contents (new characters, alternate storylines) too.

Looking forward to hearing more about it.
Are you planning to design the website on your own?

This looks very, very promising. I'm looking forward to playing it, and I'm sure the music will be just great.
I also very much like the idea of downloading official content for it in the future, basically, you can keep on working on the game as much as you want after releasing it and giving players more gameplay and characters.

And I think making it free was a good choice, too. You could have a donation button or something of the sort, too, since I can see people willingly donating after enjoying your hard work. Sometimes donations are even more profitable than a set price, really.

In any case, your game looks very good. Make sure to keep updating this thread whenever the game advances! I'd like that :P

I'll have my final word in my design, but one of the group members will create the website. We already have our private forum, so maybe we will open it to the public instead of creating a new website (and keeping our private topics invisible), where we will share our updates, download links, and opinions/ideas could be submitted too.

Oh, didn't notice your response, so I'll answer for it independantly. I'm really glad you are interested in this project and you liked the trailer. I'm trying to do my best with creating an atmospheric soundtrack which is inseparable from the whole game.

Yes, that was the goal with the downloadable contents. In fact, that's what DLCs should be for: to keep your game in live as long as you want. Three characters and storylines will be released with the basic version, as they are connected to each other (even though they are in different eras, they complete a circle).

Donation button is nice idea, by the way. And thanks again, obviously I will update this topic if I create something new. I want to release new trailers, introducing the main characters' storylines. So they would be story-oriented rather than gameplay-oriented (like this one).

I'm interested in playing this once it's released, it looks awesome, a classic RPG feel with some modern features is what I gather. One thing I am wondering about, will it be able to be compatible to play with USB controllers?

Thank you for being interested! I'm glad you like it. Yeah, the goal was to create a classic feeling game with totally new elements, a mixture of old and new. And to answer your question, of course, you will be able to play it with a gamepad!

This game looks so cool. The idea that you choose your allies as you go definitely sounds great.

Thank you so much for your support! I'm really glad you're interested in the game. Sachi-Shimazu, I'm glad you like the idea of deciding who you want to join to your adventure. I think it's something which wasn't seen in any game, or at least not as deep as it will be presented in this game. Cobalt, It's nice to hear you enjoyed the trailer. More info will coming soon, as we finished the closed beta testing.
