I mean, both are completely different Pokémon. IT's really hard to choose. If you are going for competitive Esspur, but cuteness and just weird Goomy. It's hard to pick.

Both are good Pokémon, but they both have very different stats, which make them completely different in battle. Both do have their uses, though, just as they have their disadvantages.

Espurr is found very early on in the game, and is a great Pokémon once it evolves, especially for one found before the 2nd Gym. Meowstic has a great movepool, with moves such as Charge Beam, Energy Ball, and Psyshock, plus the added bonus of having two different level-up movesets depending on its gender. Male Meowstic has a more support-based moveset, with a lot of non-damaging moves that can alter the battle to how you see fit, and female Meowstic has a more offensive movepool, with many strong attacks to hit the opponent hard. This is great because you can choose to have an offensive or support-based Pokémon, it all depends on its gender and how you raise it.

Stat-wise, Espurr and Meowstic are fairly average, favoring Special Attack and Speed over its Attack and both defenses. It is fairly speedy, with its speed resting at base 104, which is great when coupled with its decent Special Attack stat at base 83. While it might not be able to take a hit, it can hit fairly hard and fast, which could be the deciding factor in a battle. Modest would be the best nature for an offensive Meowstic, or Timid to boost its speed. Both of Meowstic's hidden abilities are great- the female's is Competitive, which sharply raises its Special Attack when any stat is lowered, and the male's is Prankster, which gives priority to status moves.

Espurr definitely has that cute/creepy look going for it, which is probably why it became so popular in the first place. Many posts featuring its blank, wide-eyed stare have become very popular on the internet over the past few months, which does make some sense, because the internet does have a fascination with cats.

Goomy, on the other hand, is a tiny slug-like Pokémon that is found somewhat late-game in XY. It is fairly weak in its first stage, but that completely changed when it fully evolves- Goodra is an amazing Pokémon. It has an incredible movepool with moves such as Dragon Pulse, Earthquake, Flamethrower, and Power Whip, not to mention the ever-popular Dragon-type moves Outrage and Draco Meteor. Goodra is also insanely bulky, with crazy special defense- it can wall just about any special attacker, especially if it has an offensive movepool coupled with an Assault Vest. It can take a hit and dish it out, which is great for a Pokémon like Goodra.

Stat-wise, Goodra has amazing stats- with base 100 Attack and 110 Special Attack, and a whopping 150 in Special Defense. Its only downsides are its low Speed and Defense, so it isn't a good idea to put Goodra up against a strong physical attacker. Its nearly even attack stats mean that you can make either a physical or special attacking Goodra, which is nice- although its movepool and stats do slightly favor its Special Attack. The best natures for a Goodra would be Calm to boost its already insane defense, or Modest to help with offense. Goodra's best ability is definitely Gooey, which lowers the opponent's Speed when hit with a physical move. Hydration is also decent if you run a Rain team, but Gooey is still a great ability.

Going by its appearence, you wouldn't guess that Goomy was a Dragon-type, which is probably where its appeal comes from, coupled with its odd appearence and somewhat cute look. When Goomy was leaked by fans who got XY early, the internet latched onto the squishy dragon and made it one of the most popular 6th Gen Pokémon.

Overall, when you compare the two, Goomy's evolution line is definitely better stat-wise, although Meowstic's flexibility does have many uses, as well. It all depends on your personal favorites and what you look for in a Pokémon.

    tl;dr- memes

Espurr. I never bought into all that "Hail Goomy" crap and I'm not going to now. Honestly, all of it's hype ruined Goomy for me, no matter how good it may be.

Goomy! Because it is adorable. It is clearly a Dragon, Charizard is not, Goomy is the real Dragon clearly

Espurr is a cat which has been the idea for how many Pokémon before? Idk It doesn't appeal to me anymore
