Evolution/Pre-evolution Speculation

Things that I think need an evolution:

Farfetch'd - pathetic, needs an evolution for variety in the metagame
Pinsir - So unloved! ;;
Qwilfish - See Farfetch'd
Corsola - See Farfetch'd
Stantler - See Farfetch'd
Torkoal - We need more good Fire-types!
Castform - Some kind of 4-way evolution, one for each weather - maybe make them induce the weather.
Luvdisc - See Farfetch'd
Pachirisu - See Farfetch'd
Basculin - I don't even understand why this is a thing anyway.
Stunfisk - Cool typing... its usable if its stats were any good.

I wouldn't mind some new branched evolutions as well, like how Gloom or Slowpoke have possibilities when they want to evolve. I'd like an alternate Venonat line, as I love the thing and Venomoth, but I wonder what if it had a more "Venonat-y" evolution. I'd love to see an alternate from Flaaffy - a friend of mine has made a mountain goat line, making it Electric/Ice. I think Trapinch could have another branch, taking into account what I said about Venonat earlier.

As for babies, I think baby Skarmory, Absol, Girafarig, Kangaskhan, Lapras, Miltank and Torkoal would be adorable. I only list these for the adorableness. Bonus points for a baby Joltik, though I don't think that thing can get any more cute and fuzzy.

 

I'd like to see a Corsola and Pachirisu evolution. Pre-evos I'd like to see are Lapras and Skarmory...

Stark pretty much nailed it for me XD But those are the ones I really want to see evo/pre-evos for.

 

I've said it before but I want to see Sandslash, Marowak and Jynx get a third form, especially Jynx. It feels to me like Jynx, Magmar and Electabuzz are a sort of non-legendary trio (I know they are not an official trio). They are placed next to eachother in the Pokédex like other trios, and all got a baby form in Gen 2..however Jynx did not get a new evolution in Gen 4. It feels like it's time for Jynx to get one as well. A little overdue. I also agree with most of the ones Stark has mentioned.

 

i've got a list so here goes

• lapras- needs and deserves a pre and second evolution, make it a dragon/ice type for the final evo
• kangaskhan- either give it a pre-evo or connect it to cubone
• tauros- don't know why but i think a evolution would be cool
• Quagsire- seems incomplete an evolution to add to him would be nice
• kecleon- he was cool, now make him better
• skarmory- needs pre and second evolutions- why? to make him epic, i can actually see his wings have katanas erupting from them. i will also accept a mega evolution
• luvdisc- second evolution, this Pokémon needs some worth, its just a gimmick right now
• rapidash- come on lets give this unicorn some wings, i want a Pegasus Pokémon
• basculine- thing needs an evolution, its just meh right now like magikarp but nothing epic comes from raising it

there are probably more but i cant think of any right now

 

For me there's Rapidash, Basculine, Marowak, Farfetch'd, and Dunsprace.

Rapidash just needs the boost in battle, and I could see Rapidash becoming a Pegasus Pokémon. Of course, it'd probably be your stereotypical little Pegasus and not the actual Pegasus from mythology, but I suppose that's better than nothing.

Basculine just sucks. It looked like the Magikarp of the generation, but cooler. It looked like the kind of thing that I'd love to use. WRONG! I thought it would evolve into some awesome serpentine kind of thing, but nope. Nothing. It's seriously just a cool looking fish.

Marowak just needs some sort of story behind it. Apparently all of Cubone's mothers are dead, and Marowak is the fully evolved form? I think some sort of evolution could explain this. I'd want some sort of second branch even. Just to explain how exactly the dead mothers work.

Farfetched, like Rapidash, just needs a stat boost. It'd be cool if the leek he insists on carrying turns into some sort of vegetable sword. That would explain Farfetch'd's obsession with the stupid thing, and it would just be cool. Farfetch'd is also a great candidate for a Flying/Fighting evolution.

Dunsparce is definitely the one I feel the mostly strongly about. This thing has a great concept, is based on a great idea, and could be so much more than the stupid thing it is. For one thing, why is it Normal Type. Since it's based on a snake-like creature the Japanese treat in the same way that we treat big-foot it seems like they'd come up with a more interesting typing than just the default thing. An evolution would probably help to explain what it's based on, and it needs the stat boost. Dunsparce's stats are so bad that it's hardly usable, even in-game.

 

I have a bad feeling Sylveon is going to be the only new evolution in X/Y, and everything else that could get evolutions will just get Mega evolutions. I really hope I'm wrong, though.

 

I kind of have the same feeling. While the Mega Evolutions are cool, I don't think I'd like it very much if those were the only new forms of old Pokémon we got.

 

Yea, it looks like they are avoiding the idea of creating new evolutions for old Pokémon, except for Eevee. There were absolutely none in Black and White as well and Absol and Mawile need new evolutions, and I've seen speculation of a Kangaskhan evolution, which it should really have a baby evolution.

 

It makes you wonder why, though. New evos are cool, well, sometimes they fail, but they can't please everyone. There really are mons that need to have some "closure" just to make their evo lines clear. (*ehemkangaskhancough*) Maybe they got "scared" when there was negative feedback on the many gen4 evos? But I like to thing the development team are not that bad off...it really makes you wonder why.

 

I doubt they got scared because of negative feedback on the Gen 4 evolutions. Yeah, some of them sucked, but there are those Pokémon in every generation. It just seems odd to me that could be the reason because things like Weavile, Frosslass, and Electivire got [or still get] a lot of praise.

 

Mawile and Absol definitely needed to develop more through actual evolutions before getting Mega evolutions. The idea of the Mega evolution seems to be a way of developing a Pokémon's form without overdoing it permanently. Mawile and Absol still had the potential to develop.

I'm predicting a Mega Weavile, since that little impish thing does seem viable to get a Mega form.

 

I did appreciate the mega on Absol. I want the power boost without losing Absol. The mega was a good thing for me personally.

 

Well, Absol was OK, I guess. My opinion stands for Mawile, though.

 

I still really want a baby calf Pokémon that links Miltank and Tauros xD A baby Skarmory would be cool too. As far as evos, I like to be surprised. I feel like Qwilfish shouldn't evolve though, it's just perfect... It just depends on how it is used.

 

I agree with you on Mawile. That one was something that I think should have gotten a fourth gen evolution.

 

I consider Mawile and Sableye to be counterparts, in the way they were both unevolving and were version-exclusives in the same in-game locations (Mawile in Ruby, Sableye in Sapphire), and I was kind of disappointed when a Mega-evolution for Sableye wasn't announced. I hope that it is also getting one and it was simply a case of not announcing it at that time. It definitely needs Mega form way more than Blaziken or Lucario does.

 

I agree with everything said here. Mawile and Sableye as counterparts as well. It was sort of implied. Kind of like Jynx, Magmar, and Electabuzz. Other than that, I just like Sableye more than Mawile. That's extremely biased, but whatever. I prefer Sableye and would have preferred to see a mega for him anyway.
