Now while playing a game one of the characters said "As I grind my teeth to dust-" Can you grind your teeth to dust? Like over time or is it false? Are there any that you guys know or heard that turned out to be proven true or false? Hoping to start a discussion on many expressions that are true or are false to learn more
I think I get what you mean! You can't actually grind your teeth to dust, but it does damage your enamel. One I hear is "break a leg" like, don't actually break a leg.
Well, there was one expression I know of that I'm sure got everyone confused and caught fire pretty quickly on the Internet: Skyrim's infamous "I used to be an adventurer like you, then I took an arrow in the knee." The true meaning behind this quote is actually Nordic/Scandinavian slang for getting married or already married. I think it may have come from taking an arrow for a loved one or something; that's my best guess.
Its raining cats and dogs is a popular one, my grandma said it is because it is raining so hard it sounds like cats and dogs outside, the howls or growls or something
The one I always keep thinking of is 'It's raining men'. Probably because the song in question is oddly catchy. Also, the idiom is amusing.
