    I once thought about putting this as a blog post, but then realised I wouldn't have nearly enough data or anecdotes for it, so instead, here's a topic.

    An 'eye for detail' is a talent, or practised 'knack', of seeing or noticing small or trivial things, that most others don't tend to notice right away, or may not even notice upon close scrutiny. This can relate to looking at physical objects, but it also can relate in a mental sense, such as looking or evaluating at a series of plans.

    I've had one from a very young age, and since then it's only gotten stronger - yet now I reach the point where I wonder if the things I notice are genuine mistakes or flaws, or if they're just stylistic choices. Many times in the past, I would be approached for help with proofreading, be it with papers, short stories, or a few other things - and in terms of spelling and grammar checking, I was (and still am) one of the best at it. Yet at the same time I know I have to dial back, because much of writing has to do with stylistic choices; after all, I can make a lot of suggestions, but what is important is that you have to be the one writing it, not me. That example is the one that's cropped up a lot in my life, but I've had many other interesting examples or run-ins that required my eye as well.

    Our eyes are attuned to some things one way or another, so how honed is your 'eye for detail', do you believe?

    My eye for detail is very odd. I think of myself as someone who is very perceptive, as I often see details and observe things that others miss. However, I also find that I tend to completely overlook the most obvious things that anyone but me could have seen clearly. I guess my brain is just running in reverse or something.

    My eye for detail, as you so describe/define it, is pretty poor for the most part.
    I mostly always have my head in the clouds, so I am oblivious to every little thing around me.
    Even the not so hard to spot details elude me.

    This is why I was never good at the kids detective game, I Spy, because of this very fact.

    If you mean focusing on small details instead of seeing the big picture, I'm an expert. ;_; I tend to do this especially with finances, focusing on only one bill instead of all the bills that need paying.

    Not at all. I overlook the little things if anything. It takes me a while to figure out the smaller things because I'm a look at the big picture kind of thing.

    I definitely have quite the eye for detail, I'd say! When I'm drawing something or making a signature, I tend to focus on the smaller flaws and fixing them rather than the big piece. Of course I look at the bigger picture too, and from there I go pointing out the little things that just don't look right. I'm a huge perfectionist so I don't only do this in art, I do it in science, math, english (writing essays and stories, etc. come to mind), all that. ;v;
