In my country, today is father's day!
    Do you celebrate it?
How do you get along with your dad?
Do you have anything special planned?

I don't really celebrate father's day and mother's day, while my family insists I do. I guess that's fairly selfish of me, since I'm neither a father nor a mother, and the rest of my family does celebrate it. I treat it as a normal day, and my family doesn't seem to mind that much. I find it a bit weird to give people presents on a day else than their birthday (with the exception of Christmas and such), especially since it only applies to parents.

I guess you could call me an ignorant egocentric brat, but that's just my view on it.

I don't put attention on many holidays at all (just Thanksgiving, really) and my father isn't very materialistic with holidays that benefit him, so it's a pretty laid back holiday here. We just have an especially good family dinner, give cards with personally written heartfelt messages in them, and that's pretty much it.

I'm thinking it's going to be the same way when I'm a father. As I said I don't care about holidays very much, but maybe my tune will change. Maybe my wife will make me start acknowledging the holiday for our kids' sake. Who knows what the future holds.

Aside from saying "Happy Father's Day", over the past few years, I haven't celebrated it. In the past we usually would have a cookout of sorts and have family over and such. These days, my dad isn't materialistic and just me calling him and wishing him a Happy Father's Day is enough for him.

I personally celebrated Father's Day a couple days early. My father doesn't mind it either, because both he and I agree that it helps avoid the really big crowds at restaurants. Overall, it was a decent Father's Day this year.

I'm forced to celebrate it since it occasionally coincides with my father's birthday. Now, yesterday was alright, but it would've been so much better if I didn't have to talk with some relatives that I really can't stand, but a least it's over now and my dad's quite content with the lil' gifts I got him for Father's Day/his birthday.

As I'm not in the same country as my father, all I could do was to wish him via a text message. I would call, but I'm not the type of person to do so. It's the thought that counts though.
