Whether you like the anime or not, some have absolutely amazing antagonist. Some just too good to hate.

    Some of mine would be:

    Madara Uchia: Naruto
Madara was so badass, that even in death people were still scared to hear his name.
Reincarnate of Indra, Madara has a god complex (Infact he basically is one, spoilers aside.) Madara good and well knows, just by him standing still you're scared of him. He made the Nine Tails his pet, he didn't wanna be half god, he wanted to be full god so he took Hashiramas power. (Again, explained in the anime this isn't coming from me.)

He doesn't think he will beat you, he good and well knows he will. He won't even give it his all if he doesn't think you're a worthy enough fight. He doesn't dodge, you just miss. He made the 5 Kage tremble...Madara, you can't hate him. (Except for his god complex.)

    Bols: Akame ga Kill
I don't even think I should classify him as a villain, because I'm trying not to spoil anything..., but...Bols was a nice guy. He has a reason to do the things he did, he wanted to protect his family (I'm crying as I type this.)

Bols later ended up getting tricked and killed by Chelsea, (I cried) In the manga it states that Bols family visited his grave every day, hell the family was paid compensation for the death of Bols...but, his family was also killed in ways I cannot say without possibly getting in trouble on here.

Bols was basically that guy at the dollar store that gave kids free toys.

IDK if jallal counts as a bad guy but if he is, he gets my vote.

This is mainly because the plot with him is so thick and you end up thinking about him even when doing nothing just because you're trying to solve this eternal riddle about is it his fault or did he not deserve this? When you're up all night thinking about an antagonist you know you've done a good job.

Ragyo Kiryuin from Kill la Kill. She's incredibly creepy and conniving; she plays the villain role well. You want her to die, but you're also fully engrossed with whatever she says and dos whenever she's onscreen. You can't deny her fabulosity. She's like a... Mega Evolved Lady Gaga.

The king from Hunter x Hunter!
He's a real jerk at first, but then character development comes in and...

(warning, spoiler ahead, only open if you have watched at least past the Chimaera Ant arc)
    ..then he dies :'(

He is the only anime antagonist that has really left an impression on me.

    Dio Brando (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure)
You start out feeling bad for him because of his life before the Joestars, guy doesn't even know his own birthday. But as the story progresses you see how smart and cunning he really is.

    Zeref Dragneel (Fairy Tail)
Zeref is interesting because is he really a villain? His backstory is tragic and he's inflicted with a curse. You end up feeling bad for him too but then he fucks up and you're like god damnit Zeref (tm)

My favorite antagonists pretty much all have ambiguous morals or end up switching sides... so um.

    Lucifer (Devil is a Part-Timer)

    Jellal Fernandes (Fairy Tail)

    Suzaku Kururugi (Code Geass)

None of these guys are particularly evil... damn I need to pick better antagonists. XD

How about Johan Leibart? (Monster) this prodigy son of the devil himself is amazingly cruel, yet amazes me at the same time. He was born as part of a tough choice. A doctor had the choice of saving an elder man or a newborn child. Even as a orphaned child Johan was of dark persuasion. He would insight fights between people, steal, and in his words "lit the spark." As he was known as a phsycological mastermind, turning people on each other leading them to their deaths. He can read people at a glance, knowing almost everything about them. He wants to see the world burn, and to enjoy every minute of it. In turn he has decided to take it upon himself to mentally destroy the man who gave him life. And he does for the most part.

Naraku from Inuyasha! He's such an interesting character with a really messed up backstory. I really love how he pretty much ran the entire story with pretty much causing the chaos. Naraku is clever and evil, it's a little scary.

I'm not sure if this one would count as an antagonist because I'm not really sure whether his intentions are bad yet or if he's just been "brainwashed" per say. But Mika Hyakuya from Owari no Seraph would probably be my top pick.
He keeps claiming that he'll save Yuu from the humans, when Yuu keeps saying that he'll save Mika from the vampires, so I'm really curious as to see how that'll play out the next time they meet.

Another one of my favorite would be the Green King from K: Return of Kings. He is one sexy motherfucker. The way he and his clan control things really interests me and I found it pretty astounding how well and how long they've been able to keep at it with the same method.

And another one would be Heartseed from Kokoro Connect. He is the definition of mystery. Nobody knows where he came from, nobody knows what his objective is, and he completely makes or breaks the story honestly. I really hope for a 2nd season for Kokoro Connect because I wanna find out a lot more on him (and of course watch some gr8 anime while I'm at it).
