For all you digital artists out there... what is your favorite art program to use and why? Is there anything you wish you had or any you would recommend?

My favorite is Paint Tool Sai because of its sharpness, I looove sai so much, but I wish it had the same effects as Photoshop CS6, what I use for effects afterward. I would recommend Fire Alpaca if you want to know what Sai is like without paying any money. Fire Alpaca is absolutely free and has almost the same exact mechanics! I wish I could try Clip Studio paint though.

    I also use Sai uvu I've tried using photoshop a bunch of times but I can't seem to get the hang of it;;
A program for adding better effects is definitely something I need though, hmmm

I like to use Inkscape because I'm no good at drawing smooth lines with a brush/pencil/freehand drawing tool, I'm lazy when it comes to shadows/shading and I also prefer working with objects rather than pixels and brushstrokes.
I would give Sai a try if I had a tablet though...

Meh, I like to use Corel Painter or Inkscape, mostly becaus thats all I have and Adobe is WAY too overpriced with it's pointless monthly subscription (for me at least)

I use Paint.NET. It's easy to use and free as well. I've been using it for years now.

I recently started using GIMP, and it works just like an amateur version of photoshop.

I use paint tool sai too ! and photoshop to make effects.
Sai has a fluid brush , photoshop does not. Photoshop is good when you want make applat of you want use texture, pattern, texte etc.

Sometimes I use clip studio paint (haha, There was a good promo...) to make comics boxes. It's a little similare of paint tool sai to the brush, but it's totaly english, I had very difficulties to used it... (mais paint tool sai have a french patch).

I use Manga Studio 5 EX for my drawings, which I think is by the same people who make Clip Studio. It's great, but it cost me £70 to get it, so it's quite pricey! Manga Studio 5 is cheaper, but I don't think it can export in as many file types, I think Manga Studo 5 is only £40 on Amazon. I hope this helped >w<

I use SAI on occasion, but I do own photoshop and have been using that for about 10 years now. xD I did recently come across a program called OpenCanvas. It's really nice and is like SAI and Photoshop put together. xD You have to buy it, but I recommend it. o: It makes things a lot easier in terms of drawing and coloring. It even has a perspective grid. xD

I personally use Photoshop CS6 for most of my art related tasks, although I will occasionally use Paint.NET when I need to.

I can relate with a lot of you guys and your programs! Have you all heard of Krita? It's free and also like Photoshop! I really like the cover art of their mascot. Look it up and give it a try!

I use Sai and Sketchbook Pro a lot.

with Sai I barely use it because I like being sloppy with my drawings. I don't mind being clean and crisp with my drawings but sometimes I'd rather be a mess and that's why I enjoy Sketchbook Pro a lot.

But you know, whatever works to get my ideas out on a canvas.

SAI is an amazing program buuut I'm on a Mac and that version has no pen pressure so wuh. Nowaday I use either Fire Alpaca (as close to a working Mac version of SAI as you'll get) and Photoshop CS6, but sadly the latter doesn't have the sharpest brushes no matter how much you tinker with its settings. </3 So for drawing it's mostly Fire Alpaca with Photoshop CS6 for graphics and the like.

I'm used to photoshop and Illustrator. I can't do graphics on any other program other than Photoshop or Illustrator, I want to learn Paint Tool SAI though, looks like a pretty cool program. :3

I've always used Paint Tool SAI for my doodles, and previously used Paint.NET just for transparency effects before I got Photoshop CS6. Photoshop's a bit too complex for me right now, though, so I only use it for any transparency and brush effects that can't be done in SAI. ;; But I've been curious about Fire Alpaca ever since hearing of it, and will likely use it as a backup to SAI should there ever be any reason to.

Paint.net sounds really handy! I'll have to give it a shot. And I agree with you fully on Photoshop. It's got so many features that it's overwhelming, but its effects and transparency make it worth it for full on SAI users like you and me. Fire Alpaca is diffenitely a good back up, and a lot of its features are the same only labelled differently. So it doesn't take too long to get used to. I'm horribly attached to SAI though and am very stubborn on using any other program besides it hahaa.

I use Clip Studio Paint! It's a great program, and SAI's unofficial port for mac isn't very preferable IMO. I don't think Photoshop is the best program for drawing, but that's just me.

If you could, tell me about what clip studio paint is like! I'm really interested. Though I must agree with you! Lots of artists use photoshop to draw but it's just not my cup of tea. Pens in Photoshop are blurry and look low quality, whilst brushes in SAI can be adjusted and sharpened. I wish Mac had some more compatible art programs.

Well, CSP was my first drawing program, so I can't really tell you much; I haven't tried enough other software to point out pros. and cons. However, I've had positive experiences with blending colors, and I heard that's one of CSP's strong points. I'd recommend it if you want to try something new, but it is a bit pricy.
