Favorite Battle in the Show

The awesome two episode long battle between Ash and Gary in the Johto League, hands down. Showed off all the Pokémon they had, we finally got to see what starter Gary took from Oak in the very first episodes, and at the time of original airing it was really an unknown of who would win, a real on the edge of your seat kind of thing.

 

I agree! This was by far the best and most relating battle to the games. This did the games and the anime lots of justice. This was also one of the very few intense final battles in the series that was both legit and uninterrupted. This was also the only time when ash used his pokemons' types to his advantage... once.

 

I agree. I hadn't ever seen the original airing of course, but when I was watching I hadn't seen it all. I'd begun to think that Gary's starter had just been Eevee until it was revealed that he took Squirtle in the first episode. Charizard vs. Blastoise was great. The only down side was when Gary decided to go off and become a Pokémon professor.

The episode where Cynthia beats the crap out of Paul

It felt satisfying to see him lose so terribly.

 

My favorite Pokémon battle would have to be Ash vs Paul for the Sinnoh League. Why? I felt this battle was emotional and I couldn't wait to figure out who won the battle. The two gone through a huge rivalary and I think because of their relationship is what made their final battle amazing!

 

Probably the double battle with Ash and Paul with Zangoose and Metagross as their opponents. The animation was absolutely wicked and I'd never seen a battle as "scary" in Pokémon before. Watching Chimchar struggle against the Pokémon it fears most did wonders for its character and I was so happy that, at the end of all of that, Ash was finally able to capture it.

 

I liked the battle between Ash and Tobias in the Sinnoh League. Tobais went through the entire league using just his Darkrai and then Ash comes and fights using some of his strongest Pokémon to be able to take down one Pokémon and come close to defeating a Latios. I felt like that was a really intense battle and I really like how it shos his growth as a trainer.
