Some of Disney's most popular movies have been made into stage musicals, so what I want to know is which one is your favorite, and why? (If you can, keep in mind I'm not asking which is your favorite movie, I'm asking what your favorite stage adaptation is. There's a difference, albeit a subtle one). Did it add something new to the story? Were the new songs amazing? Were the effects awesome?

For me, it is hands down The Hunchback of Notre Dame/Der Glöckner Von Notre Dame. I hate how this show will probably never go on Broadway because it's just a little too dark for Disney to make big and publicized like that. It's a really beautiful show. The added songs from both versions are just amazing. I'll admit, I haven't seen it on stage, but I've listened to both of the soundtracks a lot.

Also, in a recent production of this show the guy they cast to play Quasimodo was actually deaf, like the character was in the original book. The actor signed everything, and one of the gargoyle characters was his 'voice'. It is absolutely beautiful. If you're even vaguely interested in seeing for yourself, here is Out There and Made of Stone.
