In ever game that features a boss, there is always a final boss to give you the biggest challenge (most of the time). They are the ones that test your skill at what you can do, and want to push you to your limit. They also always have an amazing theme to go with them, to emphasize the battle.

Now my question to you is, what's your favorite final theme from a video game? Which one do you think best emphasizes the battle at hand? How do you feel about the song personally?

For this, after some thinking around, I have chosen my by far favorite theme for a boss fight, and from a pretty unsuspecting game. And that song would be In the Final from Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story.

This song is just purely amazing to me. It hypes up the battle fairly well, fits the scenario, and shows how important this will be. The tones in it give you that feeling of courage, where you know that if you don't win this battle, that means the end for everything. However, it brings off just brilliant instruments that compliment the feeling you need to get from it so well. I love what this music is and how it affects the battle. I could listen to it for hours on end.

    So, what's your favorite?

There's only one that pops up in my mind. Sephiroth's theme from FF VII

Definitely The Evil Emperor's Theme from FFII (20th Anniversary Edition).

Final Fantasy II was the first game I had for my PSP, and the second video game I've ever actually owned. The game itself holds a place in my heart, as does the music. This song in particular is one of my favorites.

    Dammit Heavenly you stole mine

But another final boss tune I really enjoy is the original King K. Rool battle theme from Donkey Kong Country. I have no idea why, but this music just really gets me. I love the way the melody, the way SNES makes the accordion(?)/guitar sound, and the quick halfway transition from something very light and carefree to something extremely intense (much like the difficulty progression of the game itself.)

Maybe not a usual choice, but one of my absolute favorites regardless.

Any of the songs from Okami and Okamiden are amazing, the soundtracks of those games are simply phenomenal. I have many favorites from both games, but the two best ones are definitely the final boss themes. I'll be spoiling a bit about the games in my descriptions of them, so I'll put any spoilers under a tag.

First up is the final boss theme from Okami, "The Sun Rises".
It may not sound like a suspenseful final boss theme- it plays right after you were completely stripped of your powers, but through the prayers of the people across the land, you finally attain your ultimate godlike form in order to defeat the lord of darkness. It's an amazing and extremely powerful moment in the game, both visually and contextually. Definitely one of my all-time favorite boss fights in general.

Next is the final boss theme from Okamiden, which doesn't really have a set name. I've seen it called "Akuro Suppression", "Eclipse", "Evil King Suppression", etc.
It plays right after the main antagonist of the game possesses your best friend from the start of the game, and takes on a shadow version of yourself as well- so you pretty much have to fight yourself and your best friend at the same time. It's a really amazing battle, and an even more amazing theme.

If you guys haven't played Okami or Okamiden yet, you should. They're my all-time favorite games, haha.

After seeing the ones who have posted before me, it is as if 'the good ideas are already taken', as I'm familiar with all the ones said to date so far, except for Ookami, but that's largely because I have been unable to play it.

Moving on, my favorite final boss theme, and my #1 favorite music track to date, is this one:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYZFwPRlQqc

While not a final boss in the track this game appears in, the Big Arm was the final boss in its original incarnation (Sonic 3), and was sadly reduced to a small and unimportant boss fight in Sonic Generations 3DS. Nonetheless its theme is just as amazing as ever, possibly more so. This is definitely a track I can kick back, listen to, and think "Oh hot reservoir, this is my jelly".
