Who was your favorite gym leader from the first generation? Why?

Waaay back in the days of the first generation, I think my favorite was Erika; she has a pretty gym full of flowers, she uses grass types which I've always really liked, and she seemed pretty nice in the games (though thinking back, she was kind of snooty in the anime sometimes wasn't she?).

In terms of teams, it was probably Blaine, he had some lovely fire types hehe, and he was really silly in the anime.

Assuming we're talking about the games, Giovanni. He's not just a Gym Leader, he's also the great leader of Team Rocket, it isn't going to become any more badass!

Although anime-wise, Brock takes the cake :D

My favorite gym for both the anime and games would have to be Brock. He was a tough gym leader if you picked a charmander and he was very funny in the anime.

Giovanni. He was easy, but out of all things I never expected him to be the leader! I thought he disappeared after Silph Co.

Probably Lt. Surge. He was a war veteran I mean whoa and used my absolute favorite type, electric. <3 Seeing Raichu on his team was always exciting because it was a really underused Pokémon throughout R/B/Y, methinks. But Erika is also very beautiful.

My favorite gen one gym leader was Erika because her gym was full of beautiful women. eheheheheheh

My favorite leader would have to be Giovanni. I always thought it was a great plot twist at the time to have the last gym leader be your arch-nemisis. That was epic.

Hm, I would guess mine would have to be Lt. Surge as well.

When I was a kid he had that Raichu. My first Pokémon game was actually Pokémon Yellow. I had a limited edition Pikachu Gameboy. Unfortunately, someone stole it from me when I was staying in a hotel. :'(

I was really obsessed with Raichu back in the day, and though Lt. Surge is a total douche, he always had that awesome Raichu.
And since I had Pokémon Yellow, I could never evolve Pikachu! And it drove me crazy, haha.

I always liked Blaine because he kind of looks like my dad, haha. Plus I always enjoyed battling his team, as Fire-types are one of my favorite types (the other two being Bug and Dragon). His gym was pretty neat as well, with the different kinds of quiz puzzles!

Lt. Surge have always been my favorite, he uses my favorite type and that Raichu could really hurt in the Gen 1 games.

I don't know if I can choose between Brock or Blaine. On one hand, Blaine is the red-hot quizmaster who has swagger and class (and he also created Mewtwo in the manga). However, Brock gives you the Man Badge, and also uses Onix--the manliest Pokémon.

Sabrina for being emotionless and badass. Surge was a likeable leader as well, I'd choose him in terms of extroversion.

Brock. Probably due to the anime but he was pretty cool in the games and seemed like a nice character.

Blaine. He's a fire type gym leader, and he has the burn heal pun used in the Kanto remakes. He gets better with age!

I'd have to say Koga. Because he 1) was a ninja and 2) used Muk. Muk is great.
But I also liked Erika. Grass is one of my favourite types, I wish it had less weaknesses. As a wise man once said; "This GYM is great! It´s full of women!

I'd have to say Lt. Surge! A little unsurprisingly, as partial to electricity as I am. I liked his characterization a lot, both in the games and in the anime. I always remembered his Raichu from when it fought against Ash's Pikachu in the show, which I hadn't watched often pre-Diamond and Pearl.

I liked Blaine the best. Old people, and fire, y'know, it somehow goes together.
