Out of all our five current generations (with six on its way) which generation is your overall favorite?

This is really tough, its almost a tie between generation 4 and 5. I think I have to say four though because they brought us awesome games like Platinum and Heart Gold/Soul Silver. The thing I love most though is that this generation gave us some amazing Mystery Dungeon games: Time, Darkness, and Sky.

Generation 4. Generation 4 was the one that really got me into Pokémon. I loved the map, Pokémon and characters. I never get tired of it. I've replayed Pokémon Platinum a countless number of times because I love it that much. There's so many Pokémon to choose from. Along with D/P/Pl, you've got the remakes of Silver and Gold!

It was a toss up between Generation 2 and 3 for me. Both were amazingly awesome. But alas, I chose Generation 2. I've restarted Gold/Silver several times and played through them each time. I just loved the Pokémon designs and the idea of being able to travel between Johto and Kanto to battle all 16 gym leaders. Team Rocket will always be my most favorite group of villains ever, in the Pokémon franchise. So seeing them make a return from Generation 1 was pretty darn awesome.

I really love all Generations so its hard to choose one. But than I will pick up Gen 2!
I loved all the new things in this Gen like day and night, evolving with love, breeding, visiting the old region...
    It was just awesome!

Generation 4, but only because it remade Gen 2, which were my favorite games overall. I could say 2 but I can't ignore that they were done elsewhere and then some. Those on top of the Sinnoh region games makes it the most solid generation.

Personally I prefer gen 2. It has my favorite starters and some of my favorite wild Pokémon, plus the legendary dogs!

Hmm, well it's hard to decide for me, but I have to say even though I grew up with the 3rd gen, my favourite has to be the 1st gen because I just loved the retro style of it and how you can explore a lot of different areas in the Leafgreen/FireRed version as well. I also love many of the Pokémon in that gen such as Lapras, Cloyster and Jynx and some of the towns and cities like Lavender and Cledon.

    I have to say 5.

I've played games from gens 1, 2, 4, and 5. The games were Yellow, Silver, Gold, SoulSilver, Platinum, White, and Black 2. I've always felt like a part of whatever region I happen to be traveling through but Unova always felt like home to me, probably because I'm a silly American and Unova's based on NYC and some of New Jersey. N is the other reason. Never before have I felt such a connection to a character in the Pokémon games before.

I like gen5, the best. I love gen1 and 2, 3 was meh...4 was alright, but I really think gen5 had the strongest story, personally. It wasn't (just) about some 10-year-old on a journey with animals, nor did it rely very heavily on legendary Pokémon. (I'm looking at you, gen4) There were times it would make you (a general term, not anybody, specifically) question how you're really treating your Pokémon. Did you really treat them as partners, or simply battle tools? Why do Pokémon even exist? Has there always been a mutual partnership between people and Pokémon, and how did pitting animals against each other in fights even start?

To me, it really feels like it makes you more immersed and involved in the game; there are just a lot of interesting plot points in gen5 that really interest me, and I feel it goes a lot deeper than previous generations, without, like I said, relying too heavily on gajillions of legendary Pokémon as a major plot point. I do hope that gen6 can have a similarly deep storyline, as well!

I'll have to say Gen 5, basically I liked the majority of Pokémon (and I even have a favorite Pokémon native to it) and plus it brought so many features to the table that kept me busy for hours. Not too mention DW abilities are neat too and plus I loved BW2's soundtrack. It's a shame it didn't get its own 3D adventure like Coliseum.
I'm quite surprised that Gen 4 is getting so many votes; last time I checked mostly everyone despised it (I didn't enjoy playing Diamond and Pearl but Platinum did redeem itself; HeartGold and SoulSilver were just meh to me; the Mystery Dungeon games were good but Battle Revolution was a letdown).

Generation 4 has to be my least favorite actually, but that's just me. However I do love HHSS. If we're judging Pokémon wise I'm very lost xD Because my favorites are all from different gens. But going by the story I have to say Gen 5. I love them all!

I'm going to have to go with Gen Five. I'll probably end up liking Gen Six better because of the advancements in technology and the added Fairy Type, whatever... Right now it's Gen Five...

N = The best Anti-Hero who ever hit the face of the Earth
Dream World = A fun and really easy way to get the Pokémon you want early in the game without having to worry about the trade screwing up the Pokémon's chances of listening to you.
Plot = The best I've played in a Pokémon game. Team Plasma actually made sense while all the other evil teams in the games were just weirdos... Magma and Aqua wanted all land or all water. Galactic wanted to replace the common world with one of their own. Team Plasma looked at Pokémon battles as animal cruelty. It made the most sense to me.

Not to mention that amazingly animated water that I wanted actually made using Surf fun...

I think Gen V was great because it was the first time I was actually captivated and interested with the characters and story. The Pokémon, while some are a bit uncreative, are good for the most part, and it had an interesting region. The gyms we're a bit differently typed than the ones you typically see, and I like that.

I would have to say gen 3. :) Gen 4 was awesome for all that Pokémon diversity and junk, awesome PMD, and a great remake of gen 2, but I still have to go with gen 3.

For one, this is the generation that I started in.

For second, Hoenn will forever be my favorite region.

For third, Team Magma. I just live their outfits! Maxie and Archie are just too adorable as well!!

For fourth, gen 3 has a lot of my favorite Pokémon! Mawile, Shiftry, Minun, Altaria, Aggron, Flygon, Spoink, Cradily, Gorebyss ah, the list could go on!

For fifth, Steven and Wally. <3

For sixth, Brendan's funny character design. XD

For seventh, Pokémon Special, Hoenn arc. That made me love this region more than I already did.

For eighth, the first ever PMD game. That was the first Pokémon game finished and the feels I got...gen 4's PMD was awesome and I love it but there's just something I'll never forget about Pikachu-me and my partner Chikorita walking in the cold snow with Absol...

For ninth, goodness! I just like it, okay? ;) I don't need deep reasons.
