Favorite HM move

Fly in everygame. just use fly after walking in all the game is very nice

 

I really like surf since it's one of the more powerful HM moves that pretty much hits everything on the field as well as also has its own little overworld music.

 

I guess Surf is my favorite, because it's actually a good move in-game, unlike most others. Although I have to say I do like Flash for not being mandatory (in other words, I always skip it)

 

Fly outside of battle of course. But in battle, rock climb. My Infernape in Diamond learned it. It did good damage and confused opponents fairly often.

 

I really enjoy waterfall, because it is the last step to challenging the Elite Four in most Pokémon games, and because on my old rain teams Kabutops would wreck everything with a rain boosted, life orb boosted, +2 waterfall with swift swim.

 

For me it would be between Fly and Surf. Surf is obviously the better of the two since it can be used competitively as well as in-game for travel. Fly is great too for in-game fast travel, and a wide variety of pokes can learn it, as well as for Surf.

Personally though since I love the thought of flying, I'd definitely go with that one. Up in the clouds riding on a Pokémon? You can't say that wouldn't be amazing lol.

 

Surf is my favorite. I would have said Fly, but with the Eon Flute you don't even need that HM anymore. Surf has it's own cool animation and music to go with it, whereas the normal Fly is kind of bland and boring.

 

Dive, because who doesn't like being under water.

 

I like Surf and Waterfall, because they're useful in-game and competitively. Strength isn't bad either I suppose.

 

In terms of usefulness ingame... Fly. In terms of usefulness in competitive... Surf.

I find most HMs useless, though. Only Waterfall, Surf, and Fly are any good imo.

But really, like most people I'd have to say Surf is my favorite, fly is handy for travel, but you can play without it if you have patience, and surf can be used to wipe out hordes.

 

Whilst I'm a big fan of surf/waterfall, my favorite would have to be the much under-appreciated Rock Smash. It is weak, but that 50% chance to lower defense is really awesome: it helped me beat Steven's M-Metagross in ORAS (with my Standard Metagross, as I'd previously already mega-d Sceptile). I just like Rock Smash (that name is just too awesome)

 

Oooh interesting question, I think for me it has to be Dive, or Waterfall. Both fun and very solid water moves. Surf is cool too, but it hits everyone in double battles which gets inconvenient, and Fly is alright but it has lower accuracy which can be a pain. Well... that'd be my answer for use in battle.

For my favorite HM to have overall, probably Fly as without it, getting around is very tedious. Although in ORAS it's kind of useless, to me at least! In ORAS I like having Surf the most since there's so much water <3 and surfing on Sharpedo is quite fun.

 

Surf and Fly, they are the only ones that are usefull, in and outside of battle.

 

Surf. I love high-power 100% accuracy moves that don't waste a turn charging or anything like that so there is just no competition here at all. Waterfall's also nice but I find myself using special attack-based water types more often than physical so I hardly get to use it.

Plus I can surf across the lands with this HM! It's just perfect in every way. Ah the glory of Hoenn.

 

Surf and fly have always been my favorite HM moves. I find them more useful then the other ones and they can be quite powerful. (According to someone who doesn't do competitive battling). Fly is also so helpful when someone is going to be using dig or another one turn move on you and you can easily just use fly to dodge it. It's such a great HM move.

Surf is really quite good. It has great power, great accuracy, and you can teach it as many times to your Pokémon as you want in every generation.
