The Indie showcase the the Nintendo Direct had (and usually has) made me curious about what people's favorite Indie games are. For me it's Cave Story by far. I love that game so much, the music, the atmosphere and the characters are so great. So how about you guys? What are your favorite Indie games?

I just wanna say that Fran Boy is the most ceepy, scary game you will ever play. The atmosphere and storyline are scary as all hell & pretty much confirm that it's an amazing horror game. I've seen some YouTuber's play it & was quite creeped out by what I saw.

I'm going to say... umm... Mu Complex, Episodes 1 and 2. And some other short ones i can't really remember.

Like "Loved" and such, what really gets me is the deep and dark story, and the music(or lack of it), and the atmosphere, those are the one's I've played(that I remember)

Ori and the Blind Forest looks cool... Braid is awesome... Do Transistor and Bastion count? because they look the best
You know what? They all look awesome.

I don't know if these games' studios are considered indie any more (or if they ever were), but I loved Braid, Super Meatboy + Binding of Isaac, and Starbound. With the exception of Braid (which seemed to be an art for its own sake), they all seem to have more symbiotic interaction with their fanbases than most games. Starbound is constantly adding content, and SMB and BoI have achieved a well-deserved cult following. All of those games did a lot of things right.

I love Indie games! I just feel that nowadays they have more love put into them than most triple A titles (Assassin's Creed is a big example of this: heck look at the mess with Unity, the demo was better than the gameplay and for a week after release they dissallowed the ability to review the game)

My own personal favourites are Risk of Rain and Nuclear Throne (yes, those ones I never shut up about haha). Both are roguelikes (RoR being Roguelike-like) with a variety of characters to pick from, multiple upgrade options, and epic soundtracks. Whilst both being entertaining, they're both incredibly difficult: it'll take you a while to get good at them that's for sure. They also have some interesting lore to them (RoR more than Nuclear Throne, but bear in mind Nuclear Throne is still in beta) that continues to entertain me!

I think Undertale counts here too, that game has exploded in popularity and for good reason too: the game is not your average indie game. It really makes you feel for the characters, makes you grow to love them: and subsequently either make you feel really good about yourself or quite the opposite, depending on your actions. I can't really say much cause that'd spoil it: I'd much rather that everybody experience it with as few spoilers as possible.

My steam library is full of indie games. Antichamber which is a puzzle game I highly recommend. Several zombie/survival crafting games which I'm admittedly a bit ashamed of. Turbo dismount, for those who like silly looking carnage, and so many others. My favorite though are antichamber, perspecTive (student project), and robocraft.
