What are your favorite and least favorite methods of evolving your Pokémon? There are plenty of ways, giving them an item, trading them, levelling them up and more. But which are your favorites? And which are your least favorite methods? Let us know which and why!

Maybe by trading...I mean it is just ...ugh. I don't like that think, is like "you need to give your trained Pokémon to another person" -.-

We also have helding items..it is like Men, he is using a helm and then he evolves...it is WTF? D:

So, the best method and the most viable one is when you use rocks. It is like, "oh Jesus, I found a rock, it took so long I will finally evolve my Pokémon with a super chemical reaction"

    ROCKS FOR THE WIN!

Trading is awful. I absolutely detest it. Especially if it had to be traded holding an item.

I much prefer the leveling up method. Cheap and encourages leveling up which means stronger Pokémon.

My favorite method is usually a generic stone method (by this, I mean stones that can be bought in store, so this is excluding stones that can be a pain to find like Shiny Stone, Dusk Stone, Dawn Stone etc).
If it's a Pokémon game where you can't buy Stones at all, then my favorite method is the good, old level-up system. Might be tedious to fully evolve some Mons (like Dragonair), but at least I don't have to rely on RNG for a Stone like in GSC (even though I adore those games).

Least favorite is the trading method, especially if the Pokémon has to hold an item on top of it all. Even with the power of the internet and GTS, it's still somewhat of a pain & very tedious.

My favorite is definitely Inkay's evolution method. It's creative, and I want to give a pat on the back to whoever thought it up.

My least favorite? Trade evolutions. I feel sort of... dirty, I guess, sending away my beloved Pokémon. I feel like I'm betraying it just to make it get stronger.

I hate trading, because half the time, they don't trade your Pokémon back. But my favorite would have to be stones, they're always the easiest!

Trading is just the worst. I really want Nintendo to change this cause it looks like everyone else hates this too. It really sucks if you're trying to complete the Pokédex too.

I really like the more creative evolution methods, like Inkay and Pancham, and I like the evolutionary stone method too.

I really like the levelling up method,
    Levelling up = Stronger Pokemans

    I really don't like trading,
Especially since I had no friends as a kid and had no one to trade with.

At least the malamar one was a good evolution method and cool, I guess.

Trading is bad because I dont have a anyone or a free DS for that, so I cant freely trade and evolve.

I actually don't mind trading since I have a lot of friends willing to help out so the process doesn't take too much time.. but I absolutely find it a huge pain to evolve Pokémon via stones in games where stones are scarce. HG/SS wasn't very friendly with evolutionary stones to me and I hated having to wait for specific days to buy some from the Pokeathlon shop, urgh. Day/nighttime are other frustrating ones when I don't want to wait for that specific time of day. Even though I'm not usually in a hurry, that's just too much sometimes. :c

Favorite is the good 'ol level up method. Unless it's Pokémon that evolve way later than they should. Lookin' at you, Larvesta and Rufflet.

Trying to evolve Feebas into a Milotic. More time-consuming than hard, and actually an interesting way to evolve a Pokémon, but I don't think I would have figured out that you're supposed to max its beauty first before evolving it without a guide. Otherwise, the other method I'm not too crazy about is definitely the ever-[un]popular Trade, especially when the Pokémon has to be traded while holding a rare item. I have buddies who can help me out with trading, but I didn't have wi-fi at home back during Diamond & Pearl and didn't know any local Pokémon players, making it outright impossible for me to get 'mons like Gengar for a while. ;; I don't like how items are consumed once traded on a Pokémon that needs it to evolve, but in hindsight I can see why the developers would do that in order to make the game fair.

On the other hand, I've never minded friendship or affection-related evolutions. Especially affection and in Sylveon's case; it evolves because it loves its trainer, which adds a little to the bonding aspect of Amie.

My favorite method of evolution was the friendship building process. It required you to pamper and truly love your Pokémon to make it evolve. Its pretty amazing too, as if you are really careful and use that one Pokémon a lot, it can evolve at a low level and be really good early on in the game (Like Togepi to Togetic).

My least favorite method is by trading, especially if it involves a held item as well. Sometimes not everyone has a spare system or friend they can trust to give their Pokémon back. Rather than require trading, Geamfreak should change the method so that those types of Pokémon evolve through ways that don't require things with wireless or wifi connection.

Trading. It's dumb. GameFreak basically said, "Oh? You have no friends? Well, get ready to spend 100$ dollars for Pokémon that were never meant to be exclusive!" As a child, I had two Gameboy Advanced, so it was never a problem for me, but it seemed unfair to the other people who couldn't. It was especially annoying with held items, because it was always hard to tell whether or not it would be useful back then. Not to mention, having to wait about the entire game to get the item that evolved the good Pokémon. At least now it gives a hint in the description, and you can snag them from other places. The only thing I ever kinda liked about trade evolution is that when you didn't know a certain Pokémon evolved that way, and you get a bit of a joyful surprise. Only sometimes, though.

My favorite is stones. I always felt so joyful getting a new stone back then, trying to see if it would react to anything. I like how they incorporated them into new features, such as being awarded with them in Super Training, or buying them at the Pokéathlon, or any other shop. There's only a few things I don't particularly like about stones; 1) Having to wait a very long time to get them. 2) Having 2 Pokémon that evolve with the same stone, in the same game. There's normally another stone, and if there is, again, it's near the end.

I can't help but laugh about Inkay's evolution method. Turning your 3DS upside down? Who even came up with that? I don't know whether I love or hate it, but it's hilarious regardless.

I also hate trades because I always played my Pokémon games on emulators :(

Like a lot of other people here I DESPISE Inkay's evolution method. It seem so random and unnecessary. I also hate the Trading method because it just seem so tedious. As for my favourite method I think the good ole leveling up method is probably my favourite. It's just really simple and doesn't take too long.

I'd have to say either the ones where the Pokémon has to know a specific move because of the hassle of having to go back to the move relearner with a Heart Scale over half of the time, or the ones where the Pokémon has to be in certain weather conditions or area in the game and similar ones like that. Trading, stones and levelling up I feel are fine because they're usually quite fun and sometimes challenging, however I feel as if the others are kinda annoying or pointless to be quite frank.

Trading to evolve is ugh. Trading while holding an item is even more ugh. it's such an inconvenience, especially since I play most of my games on an emulator. Give me evolution via levelling up anytime.

Hate evolving via trades! And ones that require held items just add to my ire! On the other hand then, I like evolutions with a special kind of gimmick attached. E.g., Pangoro can only evolve after it leveled up a so much and a dark type Pokémon is in your party, Eeevee needs to be near a moss rock to evolve into Leafeon, stuff like that.

Evolving by trade is simply the worst, because you have to find someone who you know won't steal your Pokémon to evolve it. I also dislike Feebas' original evolutionary method, because it's really hard to get. :( But I probably like Mega Evolution the original level-up variant the best because it's easy and iconic. But I think Inkay's evolution is really really cool too.

I really love the friendship evolution method! It really adds to the experience of bonding with your beloved Pokémon. It really brings you closer together, from leveling to feeding them drugs (as in calcium and zinc).
My least favorite would be trading. I mean, what if I didn't have any friends. I'd hate to evolve a Pokémon like that. It's like sending them away to boarding school. Awful. Just awful.
