First question. Do you like fidget toys and think they're useful, or do you think that they're just gimmicky? Secondly, if you do like fidget toys, what kind do you prefer and why? I really like the concept of fidget toys. Little objects that can fit into pockets that somebody can mess around with when they're feeling anxious? Sign me up. I need all the mental grounding I need. However, I hate how popular and gimmicky they are. I feel like it gives fidget toys a bad name, so people who need to use them feel self--conscious about it. I prefer fidget cubes to spinners. Spinners are too awkwardly shaped to fit neatly in my pocket, and there's no point in me having it if I don't have it on hand at all times. Besides, I like the variety that fidget cubes provide. If I need to click buttons, I can. If I need to spin a little thing with my thumb, I can do that too. I can rub my fingers on the little ridges, or I can make the little switch go click click.
In truth, and as someone with a big ADHD problem, I find them useful but annoying. When I was in 8th grade, they were popular like no one's business, but hearing them was annoying as heck. I was easily distracted by them, and I often snapped at people who were too excessive with playing with them. As much as I would like to carry one now (a cube please), people messing with them ruined their reputation, and they are now banned on school grounds, so no cube or spinner for anyone.
Spinners gave figet toys a bad rep, but I think the smaller toys are good. I personally have a cube, although I got it after I left school..
I find them useful. I'm quite fidgety when I'm sitting still o it keeps me focused and helps out. Now in terms of preference I love the cube. Tiny hands means a tiny object to work with.
