A pack of five command wolves ran across the plains of the Republic, Imperial border.

“Command, this is the Blue Wolves squad leader Toras, so far we don’t see anything unusual in the horizon, we ask for permission to come back to base when we are done here.”

“Blue Wolves, this is Command, permission granted. Good work boys.”

I turned my command wolf to the other wolves.

“After this, who wants to go and get something to drink? All the drinks are on me.”

“Sounds good to me Sergeant,” replied one of the senior privates.

Then an alarm started beeping, and a missile came in and destroyed one of the outer command wolves. We all turned towards the smoke and something black revealed itself and slammed into another command wolf with its claws and then it shot at one more wolf with its railgun cannon. I was the only one left.

“Who are you?” I screamed into the comms.

    There was no answer.

The attacker lunged at me and I jumped to one side, whirled around, and fired at my opponent. It seemed to hit him head-on, but it seemed to do little to its armor. I turned on the comms.

“Command, this is Squad Leader Toras, requesting reinforcements. We have had contact with an enemy Zoid, and I’m the last of my squad,” I screamed frantically.

An eerie silence followed. The attacker suddenly laughed over the comm.

“You think that I would attack unless I had a plan, now then I’ve wasted enough time, so prepare to die, Republican dog!”

He started to charge at me, and I attempted to flee as I turned on a distress signal.

“I hope that someone can hear this and be able to get help,” I thought to myself.

I heard the black Zoid start to fire his railgun, and I felt my Zoid take the hits and fall to the ground. I closed my eyes, expecting the finishing blow that would likely kill me, but it never came. I unbuckled myself from the seat and got out into the light. In front of me was the welcoming sight of the Republican Army.
